Why has Ghost Recon(360) news gone dry?

All the footage they released at E3 was CG concept stuff, game looked like crap at X05. Blim asked the developer and they said it was a stable alpha build and the final game will look as good as the concept stuff when its released in Feb or March 2006.

Ghost Recon was one of the first titles shown to gaming public, it was even playable IIRC. BlimBlim any news, whats the word on the street?

the first time playable was at x05, and according to most, it was dissapointing.

its since been pushed back to early 2006.

in my opinion, the gameplay vids from x5 looked fine, if not a bit rough. looked nearly the same as the cg trailer (yeah, bish was right all along it seems), just missing some after effects and noise. oh, and of course poilish (animation especially).

Yeah it fell short of the CG demo, but, I thought the draw distance in the playable was better than the CG demo. They will find a balance, its just went back into the cooker for a bit.

Didn't the developer say the demo wasn't cg, it was just entirely scripted. What they showed at X05 apparently had most of the nice graphical features disabled.

I didn't think the playable Ghost Recon looked bad at all. Not as polished as the demo movie, but not THAT far off, either.

i remember hearing what sounded like speculation to that effect... sounds almost feasible too, as there is a large difference in that footage and the graw CG footage where the guys are walking down the city streets

It hasn't gone totally cold yet. Look for some stuff soon from EGM/1UP.

Hey Che, you guys didn't tell me everything I wanted to know about Xbox360 in your latest issue, but you came pretty close.

I want to know how long that warranty is good for.

Sony upped their warranty to 1-year parts/labor for the slimline PS2 and I'm wondering if Microsoft will do the same for the Xbox360, or will they keep the 90 day parts/labor warranty? I'd really like some official confirmation of this instead of board speculation because EB Games is selling 1 year warranties for $40 and I think that's a little too steep. I'd rather not have to purchase one if Microsoft is going to have a decent manufacturer's warranty.

Most of the posts have been addressing the reasons that the game has been delayed till 2006. To answer the original poster's question, the reason we no longer see much about it is because to promote the game now would detract from the launch titles.

Great thought. The other factor may be that it's better for the devs to be working on the game and less on hyping. MS is going to sell all the Xboxen they can drop this holiday, no more hype should be wasted on non launch games for now. If MS can get the games out it is promising in the Feb to May time-frame the 360 might avoid the post launch doldrums most consoles see.

I am just glad Ubisoft delayed this game. After hearing people playing and seeing it and saying it looks nothing like the intial footage worried me but seeing the last video I was still really impressed. I hope this is the kind of delay that makes you sit up and take notice and shows that if you are going to delay something you make it worthwhile unlike Rainbow 6: Lockdown.

The only thing that worried me really is the fact that there was no traditional first person view like what was shown early on and the fact that the multiplayer models and animation were cloned from Ghost Recon 2, thankfully the animation was fresh and different in the single player game. I still hope the multiplayer gets the improved models/animation.

Oh that cg trailer. I thought you were referring to the E3 footage. Yea I would've been shocked if it looked as good as that trailer.
