Why has misandry become so accepted in society?

Not open for further replies.
Tonight, while working my shit job, there were two girls and a guy. She told him to get a box of cereal because she forgot. He brought the wrong box apparently. She then humiliated him by calling him stupid (in front of this other girl) and told him real slowly to get another box. He hung his head down and got the right box. After he left, they both said, "Men", and laughed.

Since my job is so shitty and intellectually devoid, I started thinking about what they said. Would a man get a way with that saying it to a woman? Why has it become so accepted for women and men alike to hate men in general.

I am a secure male who likes being a man but people like me are shrinking in numbers. I can't defend men in front of women because if I do, I'm a raging misogynist who badly needs therapy, even if I never mentioned the word or other names for "female."

Then you turn on the TV and you find fat, balding men with awesome wives who are just perfect. Then you have the men who are bumbling idiots who can't seem to do anything right. If he does, he does it in such a dick way that he's wrong again. I don't care if TV does this but as more kids are parking their asses in front of the idiot box, kids are going to be absorbing this vile shit in.

Thoughts, opinions, joke posts, whatever.

There's loads of commercials featuring this, where men are dumb and Mom is queen. But, I can't think of one right now...

Most men aren't assertive enough. I hate to oversimplify the problem/solution but I have to get ready for school. :)

Because people are less respectful and it's rare people take offense at jokes about men because men are seen as strong.

Usually it's the fat, balding, white men who play the part of the boob.

I see it a lot in commercials for IT companies, like a business meeting scene where the middle-aged white male executive will say something like, "Change the reports? That will take days and cost us thousands!" and a woman/minority will say, "I can do it on my laptop in ten minutes."

I think it has more to do with people being complete assholes.

It's a classic example of history's pendulum at work -- our society is attempting to compensate for earlier times when women were subjugated, but it's going too far. This is also why it's common to see a black comedian poking fun at various white stereotypes, while a white comedian who attempted to do the inverse would be very offensive to most people.

I think that has more to do with empowerment than the topic at hand...

WTF kind of girlfriend humiliates her boyfriend in public for making a simple mistake while doing something that she asked? Insulting his intelligence is what upsets me the most. I can't stand when couples denigrate each another... that goes for both girls and guys.

The boyfriend should have thrown down the box of cereal and told his girlfriend to go find the cereal herself. How much do you want to bet that he got the right kind of cereal, but just not of the brand that she wanted?

Well I can do it in ten minutes dammit! I'm that good! ;)

kind of a poorly written article, you know? And you can almost see the two white people the reporter interviewed planning their next KKK rally: "The white oppression ends now!" she shouted. "It's time for us to rise up and shake these insults we've endured for a few decades now!"

Working in public you just catch snippets of people. There's no way to tell if the woman is really abusive towards the guy, but maybe she's just a bitch.

My husband and I are this way with each other all the time. Everytime one of us goofs up, the other is right there to mercilessly make fun. Some couples just playfight constantly.

most men I know don't say anything because they're confident in their intellectual, physical, and emotional superiority (please note that I'm not saying they are, rather that they think they are - when women act this way towards them they "roll their eyes" and laugh). Men do the same thing in private towards women (making fun of how emotional and unstable they are, and how unreliable they are). I just think women are more apt to do it in public because there's no negative cultural stereotype to making fun of white men.

This is one thing I can't stand. This childish compensation, the racial based jokes are along the same lines imo. Sure sometimes the stuff can be funny, but it's fucking stupid in the end. I think shit like that only serves to seperate us all, but I suppose we're only human ... oh wait! that excuse is bullshit. I hope in time we grow :(

The article is fake.

To be fair, misogyny is a little more threatening than misandry.

Psychologically, emotionally, we're just duller to the kinda puny threats/abuses made by women...

also we're able to put up with more. Plus women would probably have to put twice the effort into doing half the harm.

Seriously though, there's still a very good amount of misogyny going on... but that it's in a less overt form, thus more difficult to detect, as it may be seen as the status quo or normal, while misandry is easier to detect, as it can be more overt and more out of the ordinary.

Damage level isn't an issue, and your psychological comment is such a wild card. I think in the end either misogyny or misandry should be acceptable.

Everything above 'seriously' is a bit of a joke... with a ring of truth to it!

Of hand, I can't think of a single currently airing sitcom where the father is the primary authority and/or a role model (strong, intelligent, moral, etc) without being a draconian dick (the best I can think of is Red from "That 70's Show", which only highlights him as a TV anachronism). I know what you're saying, it's just TV, I don't expect people to live their lives according to a sitcom either, just interesting to note.

Bad News: White guys, it's your turn to take it up the ass.
Good News: At least it probably won't last for 5,000 years like the other way around.

Bottom Line: Get used to it. We've earned it.

being a man sure is rough.....

It's all nonsense all of it. Like when a woman gets mad if i don't let her out of the lift first. Sorry, equal rights luv.

Bottom Line: Get used to it. We've earned it.

you mean someone else earned it but never had to pay

Men have been making jokes about how stupid women supposedly are for ages. Even on this forum you constantly see someone going on about how women can't drive, or how their decisions are based on emotion rather than logic, etc etc. You do see the converse more often these days, but that's probably because everyone is fair game nowadays. You say that you can't defend men or make jokes about females, but come on is that really true? if so maybe you just need to assert yourself, and not use words like 'bitch'.

That's because most sitcoms star male comedians and being the goofball is why they make the big bucks. They star ugly male comedians too, but look at their wives, they're gorgeous and totally out of the male leads leauge. Women are constantly objectified in the entertainment industry and their worth is tied directly to their beauty. I can't think of one successful actress who's maintained their success without having to dangle their tits like the proverbial carrot in one magazine spread or another. Their roles are flat and uncomplicated. They have to be as bland as possible because otherwise they won't be attractive to the male audience(studio logic). If she's assertive she's automatically a bitch, or she'll be called one like 4 times an hour. Like uh Wonder Woman on The Justice League. She has attitude sure, but nowhere near as much as Batman. But because she's a woman it makes her a cold bitch, while Batman's bad attitude makes him 'cool'. That's the "vile shit" that our kids absorb when they sit in front of the tv on Thursday nights. No one's psyche is harmed because the dad is a funny fuck up. That goes further back than The Honeymooners.

I think you're right if you're saying the entire dynamic of how men and women are portrayed in various media--both singularly and as couples--is unrealistic and demeaning.

Yeah umm this entitlement for black oppression cropping in kids who weren't even alive does nothing but shame what their ancestors went through.

I dont owe anyone shit. They can shove their sense of entitlement up their asses. You fucking make your way through life with the hand youre dealt, thats the way it works. ITS NOT FAIR BUT THATS LIFE!

It's an acceptable social playtime, it maintains the facade that females exercise real power in social and intimate partnerships. It isn't true, but gosh darn it's funny!

Absolutely. Media execs, editors and producers try to create ambience where women are constantly on the verge of tears and men are constantly engorged, insulting the hell out of both genders' intelligence in the process.

You can say anything you want and get away with it if you display enough authority.

Come in like a pussy and you get treated like one. Come in like a man and you get treated like one.

If she comes back with more authority you have to stand your ground. If you wuss out you get destroyed.

This past weekend I went to a bar, wasted already. I was hanging out with my friends and this short, really cute, but tough as nails girl was walking around and I overheard her say to her friend "I hate how you can never find a real man in these bars." and I saw her smoking a cigarette.

2 minutes later, I went right up to her and said "Hey can you gimme a cigarette?", she searches thru her bag, and gives me one. But I dont have a light either so I'm like, "yea gimme a light too because I don't have one either." She made a nasty look at this point, so to immediately defuse anger I look her dead in the eyes and I go "Yea I know, I'm a pretty demanding guy" (with a cocky grin on my face) to which she replies "Yea, I like it!" and smiles.

So I topped it off with "Ok, so I demand you to take my pen and write down your number and I'll give you a call sometime this week because right now I'm hanging out with my friends." I exchanged names with her, asked her where she was from and got her digits. Easy.

If I had come in like a pussy, she would have treated me like one, and I never would have gotten her #, and probably wouldve gotten reamed left and right like the rest of her entourage (I guess she was used to giving orders).

It's all about status guys, remember that.

Too bad I often revert to a weakling when I'm sober :lol

Well that's interesting. But that gives off a major bitch/bar skank vibe. If that's what you're into, cool. But what kind of woman makes a comment like that that isn't ... well you get the idea.

Please just go away before you say more of these retarded things.

We just need Snoop Dogg to show up, slap the shit out of everyone, look them up and down and say, "look at yous guys." Then he'll slap them all once more for good measure and walk away.

It'd be awesome.

If you show someone that you're normal and they're being a retard, you always win. Some girls are bitches simply because it saves em time. My sister, for example, is really nice person but sometimes she just blows people off because she doesn't have the time to talk to every single person that tries to pick her up. They're sick of being bored by people who have nothing interesting to say or do.

There's a line between blowing someone off and being a bitch you know.

According to the good book:

Proverbs 19:13 A foolish son is the calamity of his father: and the contentions of a wife are a continual dropping [NLT: a nagging wife annoys like a constant dripping].

Proverbs 21:9 It is better to dwell in a corner of the housetop, than with a brawling woman in a wide house.

Proverbs 21:19 It is better to dwell in the wilderness, than with a contentious and an angry woman.

Proverbs 25:24 It is better to dwell in the corner of the housetop, than with a brawling woman and in a wide house.

Men, choose wisely! Choosing an argumenative woman as a mate can be the biggest mistake in your life!

I think misogyny is still broadly accepted and practiced. For every little eye-rolling episode deriding men you can summon, I can think of three stories where women were degraded or called "cunts" or some other broad act of repugnant misogyny.

Yea, I like defusing spicy/bitchy women I guess. It's actually REALLY fun once you get good at it. You don't get hit unless you really screw up or lose your cool. :lol

I don't suggest this behavior unless you're really good at it, if you don't pick the right words and goof on them properly, you're going to piss off a lot of women in the process.
