Why hasn't Apple or anyone else done this?

Release an IPOD or similar MP3 player with bluetooth support, and sell a bluetooth wireless headset seperately... That would rake in some serious dough imo. One of the main issues with MP3 players and personal music devices in general is that the headphone cords et tangled or in the way. If they released a high quality headset-esque device, that would solve the issue.

Has this already been done?

Bluetooth kills battery life.

well I think because Bluetooth is still a very expensive technology. Imagine spending $399 for an Ipod and then another $150 for a bluetooth headset and transmitter. Would you realy spend close to $600 to listen to music on an Ipod?

No. I guess that answers my question then. :lol Oh yeah, and battery life, forgot about that... It kills the battery on my cell phone when I have it on.

I long been itching for wireless headphones for a while, but yeah, it seems wires are here to stay until costs go down or battery life goes up. It'd still be a nice option for situations where you don't have to worry about battery life though, such as on a desktop computer.

Yeah, no one in their right mind would spend that kind of money for such a small service.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go buy some $50 iPod socks.

And the headphones can't exactly be small can they? I can imagine losing mine quite easily if they haven't got wires.
