Why I like the DS

Nintendo's Pro Bono PR Firm
Great existing library.
Great upcoming library.
Games. Non games. Variety.
Nintendo franchises coming online for the 1st time.
Free online gaming, easy to set up.
Affordable console, cheap games.
New gameplay mechanics, innovation.
Robust, good battery, easy to take on the go.
No loading. No waiting. Quick boot.
Girls and parents like it and actually play it.
Multiplayer with one single cartridge in most games.
Rumble pack, Touch Screen, Micro, Double screen.
Alarm clock, Pictochat (killer app once available online).
Best Mario Kart ever about to be released.

Your turn ;-)

Because when I'm playing I can be "I Can't Believe This Looks Marginally Better Than What I Would Find On A Gameboy Advance A Few Years Ago."

No really, I catch myself being amazed sometimes.

I don't have one yet, but...

I like the stylus for input options.
I like the wi-fi and Nintendo's efforts to promote it
I like the built-in pictochat.
I like the backwards compatibility.

I like the DS because it pisses off Sony fanboys to no end.

Of course, I also like the PSP because it pisses off the Nintendo fanboys.

Sold Mario64 because I didn't like the controls and Trace memory because I finished it and it was still worth good money. No room for the metroid demo in the case :)

TEH THURd PILLAR!

serious answer: DS keeps sprite based gaming on life support.. and no comments on PSP having them as well, DS has more of them :p

Because it's like the gba, but a little bit more so. Very cool. Castlevania is gooey gooey goodness.

Meteos would be reason enough to like it, imo.

And Kirby doesn't come close to deserving being in that picture. FUCKING KIRBY
you lack the taste of 1000 generations. your family is disgraced.

Agreed, Kirby is one of my favorite DS games. It rules. Just don't play it around any GTA style friends. Actually, don't even play your DS around any neanderthal types.

I like the DS for a couple of interesting games, the major one being that new mario bros. I don't like the DS for it's clunky design and small, shitty screen.

i really want to get a DS now with the wi-fi service going live soon.

I'm going to wait for a whole bunch of wi-fi sequels to current awesome games like advance wars though. and nintendo needs to redesign the ugly and bulky case.

I might crack with wi-fi Mario Kart though. I'll play the waiting game though to see how the service works out in general, but more specifically what'll happen with it here in Australia. can't wait for impressions to start rolling in, because that'll seal the deal either way.

Because I can actually use the diagonals on the d-pad.... you know, so I can move diagonally with one button push.

SUPPORT INNOVATION

IAWTP

Kirby is all sorts of awesome, and IMO represents the exact point at which the DS went from barely mediocre to awesome :)

But after looking at the gorgeous PSP screen how can you look at those tiny DS screens?

Same way I can look at the tiny DS screens after playing Metroid Prime on GC ;)

After playing Marvel Nemesis and the latest Harry Potter game for DS recently, it's hard to like the DS. :(
But then I insert the Phoenix Wright cart again, and all is well. :D

It's kinda weird with the DS because most of the best games weren't made by Nintendo (well, unless you count intelligent systems). Meteos, Advanced Wars Dual Strike and Castlevania DS are the 3 best games for the system.

I love the DS for having more then 6 good games. The best part is single cart play. I have been playing jam with the band, with 8 people at work for a month and a half. I picked up the expansion pack so now we have around 50+ songs to play. The fact that this kind of game can support 8 people using only one cart and gives us access to the entire library of songs is amazing. Plus it has a number of Ouendan songs to make me cry. Single Cart Multiplayer is the best.

Burnout is a failed attempt for PSP, 10 minutes to start a game and 6 minutes to start a new race after a 2 minute race is horrible. Once they address the load times PSP gamers can vask in the technology that Nintendo created
.

Question: Will I enjoy Castlevania DS's story if I never played through Aria of Sorrow? Does it recap what happend and whatnot? Do you even need to know what happened?

It's not my thread, but this kind of comment adds zero to the discussion. I'm too tired from the PSP thread to carry this ball for long, though.
