Why is a console as a PC component still not a thing? I know it sounds stupid

I have a second monitor. It's not a dedicated discord monitor. Im not gonna stop watching stuff on it in order to have discord open on it at all times zo use it occasionally.

yes i wonder why i would want to press win+shift+s and select a part of the screen over screenshotting it all, pause the game, open a program to crop it and save it then delete it. Oh and of course immediately go empty the recycle bin because who wants tp have stuff in their recycle bin.
So wait, when you are playing a PC game you have that on your primary monitor, but then use a secondary monitor to watch videos while you play and then need to unfocus form the game to interact with Discord? I know it's difficult to think of other solutions when you have such a perfect workflow, but you could play a game on your main monitor. Still watch videos on the secondary, and see the popup notifications on the secondary.

I wonder that to, I'd just want to press a single button to grab the screen and save it, I'd then continue having fun playing and would later go in and crop the images when I'm ready to deal with them. Stopping play to select a region makes no sense.

No it's not. Df said it's like 4070.
And building sub 1000$ pc is a nightmare and I don't want this conversation.
Besides- I've got money to buy best pc in the world and I won't. I prefer to play my games years earlier without stuttering and headaches.
You have to understand that some people like to play on console even if pc experience is technically better because they just don't care and like playing on console.
Slotting in a different more expensive CPU and GPU instead of the less expensive ones to have more performance is the difference of a $1000 PC, and a $1800 PC. I'm really not sure how it makes the build more complex.

The 4070 is still faster than the PS5 Pro, all of the cards I mentioned are faster. You can keep believing that PC gaming is so expensive but it's not. Outside of Sony's games, and GTA VI everything is releasing on both the PC and consoles at the same time.

I play both PCs and consoles with the PS2/Xbox/GameCube gen having equal if not more console play, PS3 was slightly more PC. But after that it was mostly PC after my digital game library got locked to old hardware. Sure I keep that old hardware around and can play. But on PC I still have access to my Steam purchases from 2004. Yes, it's true that not everything plays without issue, sometimes you have to download a patch, but IMO it's better than not being able to play the game at all. And when you get new hardware the games can look and run better versus needing to buy a remaster. Or are you saying there aren't a ton of consoles players that keep begging Rockstar of a RDR2 60fps patch when that was day one on the PC release?

In the end play what and how you want. I enjoy playing in my office on a nice ultra wide monitor that's more immersive. But other times run the game on a TV when I just want to sit on the couch, or play on a Steam Deck lounging outside. It's just nice the same game runs on all of those devices with the save syncing without needing a subscription to anything. Then there's being able to just hang out playing a chill game with friends and video/voice chat again without a sub, and even just giving them control of the game or letting them jump into a couch coop game off just a video stream and them picking up their controller. And then if I really want I can put on the VR headset for games that don't natively support it, why doesn't Mech Warrior 5/Clans support VR?

As I've said.
I also play at my desk. Both on pc and ps5 pro. The 2nd much more often in last few years.
It doesn't have to be a setup on a couch. It's literally like playing a pc games but I only care about a game and nothing else.
And yes, I need to find a new bookshelf or something. The ikea unit is a bit too bulky :p Recommendations are welcome :P

I'm not sure where'd you put your consoles. But there are media cabinets that are the depth of a DVD case. They have adjustable shelves so you can fit either DVDs or smaller BluRay cases without too much extra space. They come in different numbers of rows depending on how many games you want to store.

Maybe put one of the Ikea cabinets in the corner between the two walls with your desk butting up against it. Then the smaller media cabinet for all your games to the left?

that's not the worst idea. I will give it some thought

I dont take screenshots to save them. I dont want them saved to avoid having to delete them manually.

But sure i could set discord overlay to the screen whete im not playing, but i'd consider that a suboptimal experience and i dont want duct tape solutions like that. And with how restrictive windows is nowadays, maybe it's not even possible without setting your other monitor as your main. Just googled it and yep as expected not even possible.

No. it would literally be just a switch. games would be running on a literal switch and have the same shitty performance/graphics regardless of what pc you have.

I already explained multiple times why it is totally different than just plugging in your switch to the monitor.

Then it's even more useless 😂.

So you basically want a Switch, just without the screen, and somehow integrates with your Windows PC so you don't have to switch between the two for Discord messages?

My guy, Nintendo can just integrate all the compatibility functions and app features in their own device, you are asking for, and keep the Switch as it currently exists today. And without risk of exposing it directly to modders & hackers.

Discord was just one example of an issue that would be very frequent. It's not just because of discord.

Realistically, there's no use-case you can bring up that makes the concept worth pursuing for Nintendo.

It just kind of feels like you're proposing a solution in search of a problem, and that never turns out well.

Lol, Nintendo would somehow overcomplicate it in a way like this.
