Why is Nintendo allowed to get away with lying?

thinking about it the reason is, for every omfg wtf are you doing moment, there's a greater feeling of thanks for the greatest gaming i've ever experienced.

in my nearly 30 years of gaming my most treasured gaming moments are on nintendo.

zelda tp was the greatest thing i've ever seen; the direct feed roundtable at ign blew me away! mariokart ds online will own me forever, i know i'll be playing for years. mario n luigi 2 is a stunning reminder of how amazing the first one was, and even though i intended not to bother with animal crossing ds, as soon as i heard a few bars of the demo i was transported into it's amazing world!

and i've tried the supposed best of ps2 and xbox, and don't get me wrong they're good, but i don't enjoy them, and they don't enage me, as much as nintendo's best.

sometime nintendo does teh suck, but when they deliver they deliver big time.

Nintendo is becoming irrelevant in the console arena. That is why journalists aren't hounding them over Revolution and Mario 128. Hell, if I were a journalist I'd be sick of their shit too and say to hell with them. We'll see the stuff when we see the stuff and I'm not going to badger Nintendo anymore.

Is there going to be a HDD attatchment for Revolution? I think going without one would be a big mistake. I think all next gen consoles should have some sort of HDD built in. 512MB flash, I mean, against a 20 gig hdd? Well lets hope there is an optional attachment.

wtf? I take it that you missed the IGN roundtable, because basicly the whole fucking IGN crew bitched about it for about 1 hour.

Download it here: http://insider.ign.com/videos/articles/616/616531p1.html

If we're going to start manufacturing journalists who question blatant lies spoken by people in power, I would hope that instead of pointing them at Nintendo, we'd put them on the White House beat.

I have to say, I was really hoping that Nintendo was going to change things around. Come out of the shadow of being the software company it is and show us that they can compete hardware-wise with Microsoft and Sony.

After that press conference. Well, I think the PropellerHeads say it perfectly....

"The word is about, there's something evolving,
whatever may come, the world keeps revolving
They say the next big thing is here,
that the revolution's near,
but to me it seems quite clear
that it's all just a little bit of history repeating"

The real question is, Why is Olimario allowed to get away with making stupid threads?

We may never know. Also.

IF YOU POSTED IN THIS THREAD, YOU ARE RETARDED.

(I have no illusions about my own lack of intelligence.)

The 2-3x as powerful comment has to be wrong. I mean, Nintendo would have to go out of their way and work hard to only get 2-3x as much power.

Try to fit a 3.2ghz CPU a very potent GPU in that tiny case....oh wait it will be more tiny

Uh, do you know anything about computer hardware? CPUs are very small. It's only when there's lots of cooling needed that more space is needed. True a top of the line GPU for a PC needs space but Nintendo has something custom designed..and I doubt it's as high end as PS3 so it won't be as big, but it's not going to be only 2-3 times as powerful as gamecube. They'd have to get a 9600 XT and like a AMD 2500+ XP Barton to do that.

I just wrote that because someone alleged that it's possible that nintendo can have a competent HW in that case. it's obvious that Nintendo will not put a underpowered machine but it will not be in the same league of X360 and PS3, even if they release it at the end of 2006.

Heh, I was thinking the same thing, reading this thread.

Just about every gaming company has "lied" in this sense, changing a project, delaying a game or not showing something at a trade event. We're going to see even more of it in the future, with the standards for next-gen gaming so high and E3 invaded by teenagers every year. Publishers don't want to give unfiltered access to early or incomplete games, and I can't blame them for that.

They get away with it because you still buy their products. No matter what.
WINNAR!!!

You guys need to wise up. Evolve, and let the chips fall where they may. Deliver yourself from mediocre next gen content. Deliver yourself from month long gaps in console releases. Deliver yourself from hackneyed gimmicks masquerading as innovation.

Nah. They wouldn't get press passes to cover the White House. After that, Nintendo is clearly the world's greatest evil and must be dealt with in prompt fashion.

It's true... it's all true... It's because we forgive them too quickly and buy all their shit. Sorry, I'm a sucker of Mario and Zelda. :lol

Heh, this from a Braves fan. Deliver yourself from annual one-and-done playoff runs!

Why does the media never call them on it? Why is never directly asked to Perrin Kaplan or George Harrison?
-Mario 128 was promised by several folks at Nintendo to be at E3, but it's nowhere to be found.

Reggie interview at last GDC :

IGNcube: Nintendo previously stated that Mario 128 could be a GameCube title, and then it suggested that it might instead be for Revolution. Is Mario 128 for GameCube or Revolution?
Reggie: We're going to answer that question at E3. You know, we at Nintendo are probably waffling back and forth on what's the best thing to do. Legend of Zelda is going to be on GameCube. We're going to launch that this holiday. And there's more to come on what happens with Mario 128.

He doesn't lie. He says we'll know what will become of Mario 128 at E3. Now we know.
