Why they are not constantly remaking all the classics - all the time?

There are like RE4 Remake, which I've finished recently, but it's a pretty rare occasion. I talk about all those legendary classic games. First Twisted Metal, Burnout Takedown - games like that
Is it like evil greed problem?

Because it would costs way more money than the one it would generate.

Publishers are companies that invest their money trying to get revenue growth and profit, aren't a charity.
That's the problem
If the world would be full of God we would get the games all the fucking time

Because those require a decent amount of work. Instead they can remake a game from like 5 years ago for a lot less money, and you guys still buy them.

A remake costs the same amount in time and resources as a brand new game. We are already getting them constantly.

Yes, as maybe smaller budget remakes
What exactly is a smaller budget remake

Like give an example. Preferably one that is good.

They're constantly remaking all the classics. I'm not sure what planet you're on.
In that case where are the modern remakes that matter the most:

Metal Gear Solid 1
Metal Gear Solid 2
Metal Gear Solid 4
Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker
Final Fantasy VIII
Final Fantasy IX
Final Fantasy X
Final Fantasy XII
Chrono Trigger
Chrono Cross
Valkyrie Profile
Valkyrie Profile 2
The Legend of Dragoon
Parasite Eve
Parasite Eve 2
Dino Crisis
Dino Crisis 2
Zone of the Enders
Zone of the Enders 2
Vagrant Story
Resident Evil 1
Legacy of Kain
SSX
SSX: Tricky
SSX 3
GTA: San Andreas (the proper remake, not that remaster crap)
Digimon World 3
Dark Cloud
Dark Cloud 2
Radiata Stories
Baten Kaitos
Xenogears
Xenosaga trilogy
Tales of the Abyss
Devil May Cry

... etc...

Yeah, we are getting remakes (from time to time; let's not pretend that there is really so many of them, when it's not), but that is still the big fat nothing, considering that they aren't what people were asking for years now.)

You typed all this yourself? What's wrong with you?

SSX 3 is already perfect. It doesn't need a remake.

Ah, I see...

You are yet another one of those very specific "The original still holds up, remake is unnecessary." type of people...

You know, the kind that uses the word "need" when it comes to remakes, being completely oblivious as to why exactly people are asking for remakes in the first place.

Yes, I do.

I've seen quite a few people like you already, and for a while now you guys were getting on my nerves.

Maybe you're the problem? You think you're so smart, like you can read people and put them in boxes based on one post, but you're not. Try taking some breathing lessons if you have trouble controlling your nerves.

Mwah!

Wasn't Link's Awakening pretty low budget?
Before actually making the remake, cutting off, maybe, not necessary extras. I recently finished RE4 Remake, but if they would reduce the dev-cost, carefully plan what to remove...simpler cutscenes, less detailed environments etc

You need to step out of the bubble and realize nobody gives a shit about most of these games.

Just play the originals. There's nothing stopping you.
Most everything is playable somehow, someway.
New consoles should be for new games.
Remakes are not only a waste of resources and dev time - but the remakes usually are worse than the originals in the first place.

People wanted a remaster collection of SSX games, not a remake.

The former would be very easy and doable for EA but you'd have to move mountains to convince the higher ups, like I'm sure Xbox did when they managed to get SSX 3 on the Series X digital store…and only SSX 3

Various reasons. The older the game the more likely it is to need more work on the graphics and other assets in ways that completely change the atmosphere of the game. Also it is more likely that the code has been completely lost, or is only maintainable by who retired ten years ago, and would need a complete rewrite. It is a commercial question and they have to think how many people would pay full price for a game that likely has very thin content compared to most new games.

What you consider "the classics" might not be what the publishers consider. There's also the usual problem of lost licensing rights as decades past, and as the population grows older, that interest fades away

Why not... Both then?

Although, frankly, from what I saw, when given a choice much more people will choose a remake to play after all these years.

They may be classics, but they ARE showing their age.

I really don't want the classics remade for a "modern audience."

I'd rather have money invested in backwards compatibility so I can play the classics, in their original form, on modern hardware without having to jump through a lot of hoops.

People aren't decerebrated enough for it to make sense financially.
But don't worry OP we are working overtime on it !

Why a remake when you can just pop it in and play if you already own the original?

remasters I want that still do not exist yet:

Phantasy Star Online
Skies of Arcadia legends
Fatal Frame 1,2,3
Xenosaga trilogy
parasite eve 1 and 2
Legend of dragoon
Legend of legaia
Fire emblem path of radiance and radiant dawn
Drakengard 1 and 3
Koudelka
Resident Evil 1,2,3.
Xenogears
haunting ground
erghiez: god bless the ring
Zelda: Link to the past Ocarina of time, Wind waker, Twilight Princess (nintendo switch)

Others.

Games take a lot of work. A lot of time, money, and you have to make up for it with sales? Instead of investing in something new that might suck, you have new and old fans talking about what made it great to begin with. Remakes and remastered games should be enjoyed.

I don't get the hate for remakes or remastered versions. I love how I can play stuff like Suikoden, Saga Frontier, the Mana series, and tons of miscellaneous releases here and there on my Switch or Steam Deck (legally). Just recently a Gex release came out. Idk if you're like me where I'd rather buy a collection which has all of the games (for the most part) than game hunt for all of them. Some I had, some I sold, and others I got credit to buy new games.
