My Wi-Fi connection drops out approx. every 5 minutes, (even though the icon at the bottom says I have 5 bars)

This started recently, about 2 weeks ago, and it was working fine before then. It isnt the network because other devices can connect to the wi-fi with no problem.

Anyone know what is causing it and how to prevent it?

1) Go download the latest driver off the manufacture website and update
2) If you have a linksys, get the model number and go to www.dd-wrt.com and flash you router with the appropriate firmware if you haven't done it already (this is assuming it's compatible).

edit, please post the model and version of the router number. Some of the newer linksys models are notorious for dropping signals. I know this from experience...

unfortunatley i can't post the model at the current moment. My brother is home from school and he's currently sleeping in the room with the router.

but come morning ill try this, thanks!

Could be where you have the laptop placed in relation to the router. Maybe there is an interference issue.
I've had this laptop for 6 months and its been primarily used in the same room and its worked fine before.

Go to support.dell.com and see if they have a newer wifi driver first. Maybe update the BIOS while you're at it.
