Wii's Virtual Console Lineup Revealed

That's more like it. I still want more obscure titles to be available though.

OK, 10 titles a month. 12 months in a year, for 4 years = 480......Seems to me like they'll have to either sign on a bunch more companies, or we'll start to see obscure titles.

I've never played them either. Or Kirby's Superstar. Was Mario RPG even released here in Europe?

Edit - Thanks Jetpacks. ;)

I know. But I was too young when Super Metroid came out. I started to decide which games buy an which not with the Nintendo 64, with Super Mario 64.

That's cool. Look forward to Super Metroid.

and Mario RPG too, I guess...
;)

This game was great fun. Your typical 8 out of 10 title. :)
It better be available here in Europe, along with Earthbound!

Is any one else totally disapointed by the inital list as I was? When they announced the Virtual console I got all excited thinking I'd be able to play a bunch of classics that I missed (due to lack of funds or intrest at the time) and yet so far the list blows the big one for the most part with nothing I'm intrested in that I don't already have.

Zelda? Got the Gamecube collectors disk. Sonic? Got Sonic Mega collection plus.

If the list from goninteno is true then I'll be a bit happier. I'll probally only get Mario Rpg and maybe Super Metorid but that's only becuse I'm low on funds right now.

I'd love to screw around with a couple of the other games for the heck of it if only they where slightly cheaper.

VC games better not be too much more expensive in Canada or I'm going to flip.

So does anyone else think or hope that they holding Zelda & Excitebike out of the 'launch' lineup because they've got a link built into Excite Truck & Twilight Princess that will allow you to buy it or download it for free after beating the games? This is something i've been hoping they do, use the VC as a gaming incentive.

Downloading it for free would need some tweaking to allow it to work in their business model, but say they could 'hide' the VC games online till you finished or at least loaded up Zelda or Excitebike could be cool. Or could be horrible. Just wondering if they'll implement such things into the VC.

Not very Nintendo-y. You don't need to reward people for buying your game. If anything, you reward them for pre ordering it. It'd make more sense for them to make it an official offer that when you buy the games, you get the download. But seeing as launch titles don't need an incentive, you're out of luck :)

It would be nice though for a 'reward' for finishing a game for once ;)

Yeah, preorder incentive could be cool, but look at Animal Crossing on GC, they give away games there, so really it IS pretty Nintendo-ey to do so.

True. But then they were being used to sell the Animal Crossing software, I think the box even said they were in there. Mystery prizes for completing a game seems a bit unlikely. But I'd be happy, obviously.

Here's an idea for nintendo. Why don't they let us setup our own controls for these games just like emulators do. For example, tieing the D-pad to the wiimote(horizontal) sensor tilt direction, giving you instant plane controls for something like starfox 64. They definitly don't have anything like that now, but it could be an update for later. Of course, the classic controller could work fine for the games.

They did it with Metroid Prime and Zero mission too I think?

You thought they were going to launch the Virtual Console by trotting out a bunch of obscure games that nobody bought or cared about?

Those will come later (and there are at least a few of those mixed in, anyway).

No I wasn't expecting the obsure games right away but I thought there would be more of the bigger hits right off (more or less) For example Super Mario 3 or World and Legend of Zelda: LTTP.... those type of blockbuster games.

Frankly if it wasn't for the new list the titles releasesd so far would be pretty lackluster.

I wonder what other games we can expect from third partys on the VC in the near future. Square-enix better get off their duffs and release Chorono Tigger so I can play it the way it was MEANT to be and not the shoody ps1 port.

Well at least they did something right with Super Mario Rpg. I only managed to rent it back in the day and have wanted it ever sence.

Where are all the 3rd party games? I want Contra, Castlevania, Megaman, Bionic Commando, Master Blaster, Tecmo Bowl, Ninja Gaiden... the list goes on and on.

These Turbo games would be awesome:

-Bloody Wolf
-Ninja Spirit
-Blazing Lazers
-Splatterhouse
-Ys Book I & II
-Chew Man Fu
-Alien Crush
-Devil's Crush
-Bonk 2
-That one Turbo CD game with the worst and most rewarding voice acting ever whose title escapes me(didn't seem to warrant the CD medium except for the terrible voice acting---GOD BLESS THIS GAME)

The Turbo Grafx 16 was a very, very good system for those that never had it or played games on it.

I preferred it to the Sega Genesis.

MARIO RPG is awesome guys, if you've never played it, be sure to get it as soon as it's available.

Listen to this person.

Anyway, I cant believe there still is not a confirmed, official list of exactly what will be available on launch day.

Super Metroid?
Game every monday!

ha - the rush entering the launch weekend is overwhelming! I completely forgot this part of the Wii. Thinking of Zelda and Waggleness - overlooked this. Plus I'm super comfortable about finding one - I love not pre ordering and B&M launch experience. Sunday should be great. So close! I'm bleeding nintendo launch nostalgia.

Last Alert?

God, I owned that and Final Zone II as a kid. They were awful, plus the voices and the whirring noises from the CD drive scared me. :(

official press release.

will they keep their word?? dunno, they said the wii would have DVD playback.
Yes, because that was back in 2005, when they say they will do this and that right before the console releases, I think it's a lot more likely they have done concrete things than at a time where the console hardware wasn't finished.

Not sure if this has been asked but will any of the multiplayer games like bomberman and mario kart 64 be online enabled? I know the idea alone sounds too good to be true so I would assume no.
