PS5 Pro is about to cost $900, which means PS6 will almost certainly cost more than that.

Sony is (supposedly) launching a handheld variant of the PS6 as well, which probably be considerably less powerful than the PS5.

Dev costs continue to rise and it will be hard to ignore a 100m+ established userbase.

I don't think there's any chance we get a single PS6 game (published by Sony) that doesn't also run on a PS5.

Your post title and poll question are basically opposites. So anyone just swinging by to vote might choose the wrong option if they don't reread the poll question.

Everything will be cross-gen. Publishers won't have a choice because PS6 sales will be too low, due to its price. And given the current costs of game development...

The thing holding them back most of the time is budget, time and manpower.

Not every studio out there have the same luxury as R* and Star Citizen of infinite money and all the time in the world to just release one game.
 
Obviously. Anyone expecting otherwise are just praying they don't have to spend on an expensive console instead of drugs or onlyfans.

Till not long ago i was almost 100% sure it will be bloodborne remaster made by bluepoint, obviously now i know it wont.
I think infamous 1&2 remaster package could do well here, not just upres but proper remaster aka demons souls for ps5.
It plays/looks pretty good still just upresed on ps3 emulater on pc already:


Keep in mind thats only 720p and ps6 could run this in pristine native 4k(or very good close to native 4k IQ thx to upscaling).
 
At least not after well into the PS6 lifespan. They will keep the PS5 around as a "low barrier entry" (for >= $650, lmao) into their ecosystem. It gets even more complicated if the rumors about that handheld are true. If so, the handheld will be the target device for all games and I don't really expect it to be more powerful than the PS5, tbh. At least not if they want this shit to have some battery life.
 
If it's easier & cheaper to make PS6 games because of Ray-Tracing & ML hardware they probably will release a lot of PS6 only games then port them to PS5 later
 
I'm not sure that it make sense in this day and age from a business perspective. Given the projected cost of next gen consoles and the development of games and the fact that some devs and pubs want to raise the price in games, I don't think it's realistic to expect launch exclusives. Those days are behind us.



We really are heading into a generation of 900 plus dollar consoles at launch and 100 dollar AAA games. None of this is gonna be Xb1/ PS4 pricing. Those days are over. Even worse if this So called RAM crisis does not ease up.


If your gonna want to sell lots of your latest exclusive Marvel action game you are gonna need to also sell it to the millions of PS5 owners who probably can't afford a pro at launch let alone A PS6 at launch. Let alone have probably ever spent north of 600 bucks on gaming hardware. I'm sure it will be a launch success but the bean counters are not gonna leave the millions of PS5 owners without 1st party games overnight. Too risky these days.

Cheaper and more effective still to just make 'PS6 enhanced" versions. From a business standpoint. I think enhanced is more likely than any exclusives. Ray tracing and 60fps at native 4k.better overall performance, That sort of thing.


Highly doubt there be 1st party games that don't have a PS5 and ps5 pro version.maybe after a few years but no way at launch. We seen how long it's taken Sony to leave PS4 entirely behind. You don't just leave that many active customers with nothing to play. It's leaving money on the table in an era where success is a gamble for the video game industry, and sure things keep the lights on and employees paid and share holders happy.

There will never be a Sony published PS6 exclusive game. Either crossgen with PS5/PS6 or crossgen with PS6/PS7, and most likely crossgen with PS5/PS6/PS7.

That's the future, accept it.

Premium User experience. The same way PC gamers choose between 5070 or 5080 or 5090. Your experience depends on what you can afford. Cloud Gaming fills the baseline along with Canis.
 
So does demon souls remake launch on PS4? These 1st parties already developed on PS5 will be cross-gen, some will only be available on PS6 family (console and handheld), 3rd parties sigle player games will have a longer cross-gen period, these live service and multi-player games from whoever will have even longest cross-gen period.

Also, does PS5 support the project amethyst features? Next PS6 family is based on Zen6+RDNA5, game will full use of raytrcing (and bit path tracing with next gen ray accelerator) , full use of ML upscaling &frame-gen (new neural array), and better support for UE5 titles (hardware accelerator for Nanite) and other feature set like neural rendering and textures.

P.S.: What if a game is built fully on next gen futures? judging a device's game performance by raw power is not full reasonable, as PS5 has none of project amethyst features, which are what next gen based on and what next-gen games will be built above.

If a game is available on PS6 and the handheld why would it not be on PS5? Handheld isn't going to be stronger than a PS5.
 
At some point they will, but the cross-gen period will likely keep expanding with each generation, and it will be just a few games they think can sell a system.
 
Im actually 50/50. Next Spider-Man will definitely be on the Ps5. GOD OF WAR remake? Should be on Ps5 too. Im not sure what Sony would launch with like at all? Brand new Uncharted game? Ground up Ps6? Gran Turismo ground up? Sony IPs aren't as strong these days. Brand new IP from them seems unlikely.. Blue Point top tier Graphics Bloodbourne 👉 PS6 was what I thought it was gonna Launch with.
 
Possibly. The real question is: when?
A launch exclusive would have to have been in production for a few years already if PS6 releases in 2027. Such a game should be down-scalable to PS5 without too many compromises, so PS5 owners would feel cheated.
Otherwise, an exclusive game that can't run on a PS5 would probably not be out before 2030. Which would make early adoption… not the best proposition, unless it's clear that the already high launch price is only going to go up in a relatively short time.

Given the current development times for AAA and the great scalability of modern engines, it's hard to imagine next gen having something absolutely unmissable soon.
 
Absolutely, what kind of questions is this? I could BET it will be bloodborne, and everyone and their mothers here will buy a PS6 because of it (of couse, im exaggerating, but you got the idea).
 
Honestly first gen where it doesent matter, ps4 had late stunners but they were framerate/resolution limited and they became stunners on ps5, these mid/late Gen games that are being 100% cooked on ps5 like wolverine/intergalactic are gonna look stunning on ps5/pro and even more so on ps6
