The last PS5 games and first PS6 games

Sony teached me to not care about their next gen system with the switch from PS4 to PS5, this will be even worse next gen... cross gen it is from now on, thats what they teached me.
This. They killed all the interest and love I had for the Playstation brand and especially for hardware upgrades.

I guess you guys are big MLB The Show fans (which wouldn't make that much considering how cross-gen heavy the series has always been), because otherwise, Sony pretty much dropped the PS4 faster than every single other publisher, lol.

Very Weak Gen First Party-wise, for obvious reasons. Can't remember any other Gen where Sony cancelled so many of their First Party Games đź«©

What a depressing list

The vast majority of games all through next gen will be playable on ps5. We may end up with 20 games that require a PS6 when PS7 launches. There's just not a lot a ps6 will be able to play that a ps5 can't. People are still buying 8gb gpus and using their ps4's. The baseline is distant from the high end and the gap might just widen.

Yup

Barring a repeat of the COVID chip crisis that prematurely killed PS4, I think PS5 is going to be around for a very long time.

I don't understand why cross gen bothers anyone. We want backwards compatibility and all that, but when it comes to forward compatibility, specially when it comes to games that are released during the transitional period/last year of the "current gen" console, we don't care?

Stop being worried about how the "future" gen will be affected by cross gen games. We have never seen the first year of a new console where a game took full advantage of the technology. It takes years for developers to get up-to-speed and most games that are being designed for the transitional period are being designed with that in mind. And it's not like console technology has been so innovative from one gen to the next, that results in games being so different that they don't follow the general template that has been established (genres, style, etc).

EDIT

And really. I don't think the majority of gamers know what they want. We want to be able to carry forward our controllers/accessories but we want something completely new as well. lol.

The last year of the PS5 is going to be 2032, lol.

T0minator T0minator should update the OP with this.
Bend and BluePoint are missing and will probably be either 2028/2029.
I didn't include Bend (same as I didn't do Physint or the leaked X-Men games from Insomniac) because I don't think it will come before 2030, hence not being part of "the first PS6 games", which is half of what the thread is about.

I forgot to note that I don't believe Bluepoint would come up with a title of their own but instead play an instrumental role in supporting the development of the next mainline God of War game, as they did with Ragnarök and were doing with the live-service set in the Greek era of the series.

They relinquished publishing rights for L.A. Noire, Six Days in Fallujah and Remember Me in the PS3 era, on top of cancelling Getaway, Eight Days, Heavenly Sword 2, Eyedentify, and not releasing The Last Guardian, Nioh and Until Dawn on the platforms they were announced for. Not to mention how they made mistakes that cost them, for instance, the exclusivity over the Dark Souls series, etc.

People like to be sold the idea that these games are "only possible" on the new hardware.
I understand wanting games to take full advantage of the new hardware after you just spent $500+ on it , but at the same time I think with how scalable a lot of engines are now and with how time and budgets seem to be a bigger limiting factor than hardware these days, things are different than they were during older generations.

After how much everyone complained about cross gen during the early PS5/SX times, I've personally been pretty underwhelmed by what we've gotten from current gen only games.
It's not crazy new games that were unimaginable last gen, it's basically just PS4 games with better graphics that instantly get offset by the fact you either have to play them at 30fps or Ps3 era resolutions.

The modern open world game with most fun physics and reactive feeling world is on the fucking switch lol.
