Will Kojima pull another "Raiden" in Phantom Pain?

I don't think so, but only because Ocelot is too in the know.

Every game's plot so far hinges upon the subplots you had no idea you played a part in.

I can't remember, before MGS2 came out, They didn't show Raiden? just the boat part with snake? was he a 100% surprise or was there any hint or trailer that snake wasn't the main character?

They showed parts of the Shell in trailers, but with Snake instead of Raiden. Yeah, he was 100% a surprise.

Kojima is definitely gonna pull some special surprise in Metal Gear Solid V The Phantom Pain. Troy Baker and Sutherland already hinted at it. I still believe a David Hayter voiced Solid Snake will make an appearance during a "years later" time jump of the game.
Although I'm sure it's wishful thinking, I've thought this for a while.

I'd also love to end the series playing as Solid Snake one last time.

How many clues of Grey Fox being the new Snake does Kojima need to drop? The corrupt file in GZ is a dead giveaway.

its impossible to do "a raiden" because one happened already and everyone expects it every kojima release

Oh Kojima!

playing as solid snake at the end wouldn't be a big twist at all at this point, certainly not raiden level. half the people in this thread and MGS community thread believe it will happen.

exactly. and every MGS since MGS2 has had these wild and crazy theories, all of which are nonsense

Certainly something is off, and didn't Troy Baker confirm there was some kind of grand ruse?

No, all he really said was that Sutherland's casting made sense or something like that. He was clearly just complimenting Keifer's performance, but people took it as some confirmation of...something.

We already know the game features child soldiers, and Snake would be like 12 years old at that point in time. Something is up for sure.

I'm not sure how that equates to something being up? Like, what do you mean? That Solid Snake will show up as a child solider? That's really not all that far-fetched, I think a lot of people are expecting that in some way.

He never used that story device since Sons of Liberty, so I dont think he would do it again. If you Solid Snake fans want your next Solid Snake adventure you need to wait for the next installment of that series (this time done without Hideo)

I don't know, but I certainly hope he pulls something insane like that. A Raiden like twist would be really, really neat. This might be our last dance with the crazy guy as far as Metal Gear goes, so I hope it's one that makes us remember all the good, the bad, and the just flat out weird times we had with him.

I've always been on Team Hayter. The way he publicly raged about not being involved with the game never sat right with me. Professionals don't do that. People that want to be hired again don't do that, and so I've always been suspicious. The timeline and feature of child soldiers makes it entirely possible that he is in the game, though how to do a 12 year old snake I have no idea. Add to that Troy Baker saying the casting makes sense, and I sit here like this:

So yeah, I believe something is amiss with the situation.

I'm really lost about how you're tying a 12 year old Solid Snake into this idea. I'm not sure what you're even saying with how to do a 12 year old Snake. Make him...twelve? I mean, if Eli is Liquid like the majority of people are expecting, it's already been shown how to be done.

You mean making fans love the backflips and insane unreal moves and then release a remake of an old game where snake does all of this and fans will hate and say that it doesn't fit the series's themes ?

Sorry, I wasn't clear. I meant using Hayter for a 12 year old's voice.

I think Big Boss just won't speak as much, but you'll play him all the way through

Until he fights Solid Snake that is.

i have not seen a single piece of compelling evidence that big boss in mgsv is actually gray fox. i invite you to try and change my mind

Sure, tell me what you refute from the evidence and I will back up each argument. Use python selkan as source.

After the incredibly negative fan reaction from the Raiden bait-and-switch in MGS2, Kojima will never attempt something similar again, because he makes games to please his players. He wants to give people what they want, not frustrate and confuse them.

Kojima would be doing it differently this time because he confirmed you are playing the same character throughout the game.

all due respect, i think with an idea as ridiculous as gray fox looking exactly like big boss and being the secret main character in mgsv, the burden of proof is on you. any pytho selkan video i've watched has been nothing but wild grasping at straws.

again, people come up with silly shit like this everytime kojima releases a new MGS. crazy theories like this have been the norm since the very first MGS3 trailer was shown. two prevailing silly ideas continually come up. (1) the main character is not who kojima is saying he is, (2) the game is some sort of VR simulation. and game after game we've continually gotten exactly what was shown to us

there may be some sequence where you control someone else, like SS for example, but for the most part, what we've been shown is what we will get. that being a game about big boss waking up from a coma and rebuilding a base of mercs. peace walker in various open world environments.

He also has said to press this whole time that you will play as Big Boss in MGSV. If in the final game, you turn out not to be playing as Big Boss, that is a lie to the players about what they will get for their money.

He will do a reverse Raiden and let us play as Solid Snake in the final moments of the game.

I hope so.

Snake stands up from a VR unit.. this entire time he's been playing VR scenarios of BB's exploits from Snake Eater to PP to find something BB had hidden.

Last map of PP is SS in the ruins of Outter Heaven to find it.

*Please be true*

I just played a preview build

you play as Kojima after the first act and you stalk through Konami HQ killing everyone, then skinning them.

And the Konami board is the LLLLL

with all the crazy theories floating around right now, i wouldn't be surprised if this happens. However, I would like it if we Just play as Big Boss the entire game (despite the several code names he has).

I just want there to be a good amount of Ocelot. Troy Baker definitely killed it with the voice.

Well I would say you are in luck. Considering Baker himself came out and said that Ocelot and Kaz talk way too much in this game.
