Will MS / Activision buyout kill off indie studios?

How does this buyout impact the smaller devs who were counting on subscription revenue to realize a ROI? If a company gets a percentage of subscription revenue based on playtime, wouldn't their percentage shrink after Duty gets added from a tiny percent to a fraction thereof? And will MS be as "generous" on fixed payments once it doesn't need them the same as before?

My guess is a lot of independent studios need to start revising their projections if they haven't launched yet. I think this move is going to crush a lot of jobs long term, on much wider scale than internally. But I'm also worried about competition being stifled generally, so I might be off here.

There's this thing called PC, this platform called Steam, and these consoles made by Sony and Nintendo.
Why would an indie studio be reliant on an Xbox subscription service?

No.

The 70bn purchase was mostly for investment in the mobile market and the metaverse. This won't impact indie devs at all.

What an utterly retarded OP:
- GP doesn't pay indies based on a percentage of sub revenue or play time;
- Why does having CoD make indies less necessary? You think there's an overlap between the CoD audience and people who played Unpacking?
- Why would MS pay a share of GP revenue to CoD if CoD is first party?
