Will Netflix allow the sequel to Hogwarts Legacy?

I am worried that Netflix may altogether stop the development of the sequel to Hogwarts Legacy. They may think of this as paying JK Rowling.
 
I think they like money too much to cancel it based on ideology but it's Netflix, who knows...

They are going to want to pay back investors to justify the acquisition. HP is one of the biggest IPs WB has. I don't see them messing with it.
 
Don't forget the reboot hbo show in the works.

I'm just wondering if they are gonna keep letting James Gunn cook. I think they will.

You don't spend this much in a large part to get hold of HP, unless you are comfortable with the idea of working with JKR and are happy with helping her continue to accumulate money.

They aren't cancelling Hogwarts 2, though they may not be able to resist making it (and HP in general) woker.

The JKR boycotters will have to boycott Netflix as well now. I'm sure it will go great.
 
I think the question is if they'll want to actually own dev studios and make expensive AAA console/PC games themselves. Or if they'll close/sell the studios and basically just license out their new IP.

As for HP, of course they'll use it. You think they are going to cancell the HBO show too? Lol.

They'll just make it woke(er) and lame, like most of their stuff

Yeah, suddenly the teachers will be diverse and from different backgrounds, they'll make the girls be as strong as the boys in terms of magic power and they'll probably have a bartender played by a trans person.

I believe that Netflix stated in some press announcement is going to let Warner Bros (at least the movie division) continue on as is. At least for now... As long as they are making money they probably don't want to stick their nose in too many creative decisions.
 
That is assuming they plan to release games for consoles. But I can't imagine Netflix willingly skipping consoles and missing out on lots of dough from games like LEGO and such.
 
I don't believe the amount of debt that's saddled with WBD allows Netflix to simply throw away huge chunks of what they bought. I'd expect to see a theatre release for The Batman 2 and continued development of The Wizarding World franchise.

The first game sold so many copies, it would be a very poor financial decision for Netflix to cease development on any sequel. I haven't looked into the transaction details, but more often than not they plan cashflow for paying off transaction debt using the projects in development, at least for the near term.

If in business you made only financial decisions DEI would have never taken off, as it is impossible to calculate an ROI on this.You underestimate top management hubris.
 
Been playing Hogwarts Legacy for the first time by way of free Epic store giveaway. I'm enjoying the game more than I thought I would.
I've only read the first book and seen the first 2 movies. So I don't have much knowledge of the world.
This castle is a lot of fun to find collectables. It would be a shame to ignore more games in this world.

Someday I need to watch all the movies in order.

The books and movies are quite good, and are worth the time and energy. Decades from now I reckon it will be widely acknowledged that she carved out a place for herself alongside Tolkein and Lewis.

Now that I think about it, it would be hilarious if those old chaps were alive today. I'm sure they would cause all kinds of drama, simply by existing.

Based on the amount of money they made on the original game I don't think they care about woke ideology anymore. Also, the winds are now blowing back to the shores of sanity. The only thing being a hindrance would be if Netflix had zero interest in allowing games to be developed at all.

Woke factor will go up, but it's definitely coming. The game was a huge huge hit, I don't think even the execs expected it to sell so many copies (and they always expect too much).

Yeah, and they've been making some awesome ports.

GTA VC/SA/III + RDR, Katana Zero, Shredder's Revenge, Braid and more. They've been a blessing to the Android scene.

I wouldn mind them porting the Batman trilogy to Android
