I see this said a lot but really there's no evidence for it.
I mean the biggest game this year is Monster Hunter Wilds and Capcom has said Steam is over half of that.

Sure, it's $70, not $80 but are we really saying $10 is suddenly gonna make the difference? PC might give more options for people looking for discounts but it doesn't really have a base that's unwilling to spend on games.

Tbh, I don't think anybody needs to purchase a new game the second it's out. If you must have the latest and greatest, just suck it up and pay whatever price they set. Higher profits might mean better working environment and pay for the team, and maybe not broken games at launch?
Otherwise, just wait till games go on sale like the rest of us. So yeah, I'm fine with games retailing for higher.

Also there is other ways to play a expensive game on PC If you are broke or dont agree with the price of said game.

I believe there will be an increase, at least for the first party single player no mtx games, but with the start of the next generation.
For the GaaS i hope they follow the HD2 model, with the lower starting price and the warbonds - like frequent updates that can be bought by in game grinding or mtx.
