And the PS2 doubled as a DVD player. That's not really the point.
Doesn't matter if a console doubles as coffee maker or a fleshlight; the Switch is by far the most successful and profitable machine ever released, and I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo made more dough with it than with the DS and Wii combined.
You are correct, but Switch 1 and Switch 2 share a big price difference that still makes Switch 1 relevant enough to sell the 7 million systems it needs to overtake PS2. Do you not see the massive hypocrisy in your double standards?
If Nintendo cut the price and had a long crossgen period, it would have happened. But the signs are that they won't cut the price and the cross gen period will be short.

They have Switch 1 games announced for 2026. That guarantees relevancy and at least 3 million units for the entire year. All Switch 1 needs to sell to overtake PS2 is 6 million units as of right now. Do you really think with this holiday period where a new Pokemon game is dropping and the entirety of 2026 where it's still being supported heavily that it won't sell at least 6 million in that 15 month time frame?
Nintendo still hasn't pushed the "deploy gb/gba pokemon games on NSO and bundle them with a Switch Lite" button like they did for 3DS in 2016.
