Will the weak 3DS launch even matter in six months?

no, which is true for almost any system. ps3 struggled hard cause 6 months later, the lineup still sucked.

i'm in when there's a 3DSXL.

Did you download the trailer on the 3DS? I thought it looked terrible when they showed it, but it looks great on the 3DS (especially with 3D on).
This is comforting cause I really thought Mario kart was ugly.

Not sure six months will be enough, sure we have about a handful of titles by then but is the continuous flow there like the DS yet? Rpgs, platformers, still need see alot more genre coverage.

Doesn't Mario Kart always look ugly? The characters always seem low poly compared to other games.

No. DS launch didn't matter. Just needs to bring the software over the next year.
Pretty much. Every platform doesn't really have a great software lineup for the first couple of months after launch.

As we all were after yesterday's conference.

However, it was confirmed today that they means "fiscal year" and that Japan is the only one with the hope of having it out before Christmas.

Ah.. that explains why Nintendo hasn't rushed to price drop then.

It seemed better looking in the early pictures released, but the trailer was just average.

I gotta try my friend's 3DS and see the RE trailers. They are bound to impress.

21 Nov 2004 - Nintendo DS - NA Release Date
13 Jun 2005 - Kirby Canvas Curse - NA Release Date
27 Jun 2005 - Meteos - NA Release Date

7 months before the first interesting DS games came out.
So yeah, people are quick to forget.

Those games all looked like nostalgia bait to me. I'm not sure many kids and casual gamers will be all that willing to jump from DS to 3DS on those titles alone. I think it's going to take a new Pokemon game for the kids and whatever the next Brain age/Nintendog fad is going to be for casuals.
