Will you camp for a 360?

I did it for a PS2, but I was an easily excited high school student . When the original Xbox came out i was a broke college student so it wasn't really an option. As far as the 360 goes I'm not too sold on getting one at launch yet(especially if Oblivion slips) but if I opt for a launch purchase I doubt I'de camp for one. But i'm sure some of you will be on the cold Best Buy, Circuit City, and Wal-Mart pavements at 3:00am to grab a 360.

I'll be there since gamestop gave me that 2nd shipment crap. I'll just use that money on accessories/games. If I can find a midnight launch I may even show up at like 9 :P

Nah. There's this Toys R' Us that around a EBGames, Best Buy, and a Gamestop. Nobody ever goes there. I'll just go and buy it from there. I know this will be the case. When Halo 2 came out, I went there to get it and absolutely nobody was there. And they had a shit load of them. I went to the EBGames and saw that big ass line, and just giggled to myself how lucky I was.

Ill most likely be checking wal mart all evening on Monday to get a feel for whats going on there. hopefully the employees will have a clue about how exactly they will be handling it.

Ok so EBs and Gamestops will be doing midnight launches. I've been thinking about putting the required $50 down "just in case" I do decide to pick up one at launch, if changed my mind I can always put it towards a Ps2 or Xbox game, but they are refusing to garuntee me a launch console even if I do pre-order. They keep saying they're not sure how many systems they'll be allotted blah blah.

May just take my chances with Best Buy, their replacemet plans are a good incentive to do so, better deal than EB/GS's added insurance.

I will go to Best Buy for midnight launch, if they do them.

That reminds me, I need to check in with Best buy to see if they're doing their midnight launch.

If not, I can always check with EB Games, and GameStop in my area. Or Toys R' Us.

I'll camp a few hours early if necessary for a midnight launch, but I'm not sleeping on the sidewalk all night for a video game system I can probably buy again in a week.

If I choose to get one at launch, then no. I did it when I was younger too, but I'm sure I'll be able to get one at a big box store the next morning most likely anyway.

shit no. if both of my preorders fall through, i'll just wait for the second shipment or whatever. it'll give me time to clear out some of my current-gen backlog, anyway.

Camp out? No, won't need to. It's a $400 game system at a time where a lot of technology is vying for mainstream dollars. iPod Video, PSP...current gen still not completely dead. I doubt there will be much of a problem procuring one without a preorder on launch day.

Unless Microsoft promises sex after I camp for the X360. Even then, i'll wake no early than 3pm.

i hope superpac is right. it'd be awful nice to waltz out of best buy circa noon on the 22nd with a 360. the us psp launch certainly wasn't any kind of frenzy. but then sony shipped a million of those, and i don't expect microsoft to come near that number.

My wife, daughter and I will go to Wal-Mart about 3 hours before midnight and hang out and wait in line. Just like we did for the PS2. I also did it for Harry Potter (but only went about 45 minutes before 12). I'm halfway thinking about me going to wait at Best Buy and let them wait at Wal-Mart, to make sure... that way if one falls through we got the backup. If I end up buying two, I'll just sell the other on eBay for a profit or to a GAF member (at cost for the GAF member though).

I think they launching it that week is a good idea, since that week is "THE rush" or the 'Gold Rush'

Meh. If it was just a day earlier I could avoid having to go to the midnight release but seeing how I have a flight to catch at 5:45am I've got no choice. So gold rush or not, it sucks for me.

your best taking your chances with best buy, seeing how eb and gamestop stopped taking preorders in stores like weeks to months ago

I've never camped out for a system before, and I'm not going to start with 360. Besides, I'm not in California anymore, I would freeze into a popsicle if I stayed out. My plan is to either head out there at about 11 PM or get out at 7-8 or so in the morning.

I haven't camped out for a system since the GCN. Hell, I even got the GBA, DS, and PSP on day 1 without camping out.

I'm sure there will be plenty of X360 units a few months after launch. I can never be as brave as an early adopter, so the wait for revised hardware is good enough for me. That goes triple for Sony hardware and not so much for Nintendo hardware so stop with the X-hater comments I know you have on your fingertips.

Circa noon might be pushing it, depending on where you live. But for as many reasons as there are for the hardcore to *get* a 360, there are more reasons for the casual gamer not to get a 360. Like uncertain backward compatibility (it's too late for magazine coverage of that or to get enough word out about that feature), having to buy all-new controllers, new memory card (or HDD), not having an HDTV to take full advantage of the graphical upgrade, a current generation that has a great holiday season ahead of it.

You had to camp out at PS2 launch because it had a lot of mainstream things working FOR it. DVD-Video playback, backward compatibility, no need to buy all new controllers, a current gen that was dead (no EA Sports on Dreamcast...huge failing). But DVD-Video playback was the #1 mainstream enticement. There's no such enticement with 360.

I'm first on the GameRush list, but they better not pull the delay crap they do with new games. They did do a Halo 2 midnight sale...

:lol :lol I don't have to camp! I'm getting it before release date AND it's being delivered to my door! :lol :lol I'm such a dick.

Campers that wait in line all day, and beyond are losers....Not the way you put it. :lol
you know, it's funny.

My girlfriend is going to a Hanson concert tomorrow, and she told me that she knows people who are already camped out there right now waiting for the show that starts tomorrow at 7:00PM.

I have no idea which canadian stores (in toronto especially) are doing first-come first-serve (feel free to tell me here!) so I'm not sure.....but since I missed out on a preorder I'll have to do some form of arriving ahead of time if I want one on day one, which I do ;)

well i'm not getting an x360 in any case, but I wouldn't camp out for any console ever. seriously, get some perspective if you're the sort of person who would :P

if need be.

i'll likely be driving quite a ways to the nearest wal-mart (visiting my parents in the boonies)probably an hour or two before midnight.

No way. My free 360 will be here on the 21st.

Btw, does anyone plan on selling their's on Ebay? I'm curious to know if it's better to wait until after launch to put up an auction or just make a presale auction now.

No i will never waste my time camping out for a damn video game system, either way you will get it, dont make a difference if you the first dude in line, everybody is getting the same thing, so why rush.

I thought I might just for a laugh (never done it before) but I'll be too tired so can't be arsed. I'll go along a bit early in the morning, if there's a queue I'll sit in starbucks until its cleared and pick up my preorder.

My only hope now is if Japan launches the PS3 while I'm over there next year (around easter), and its not coming out in Europe anytime soon. Then I might camp in Akiba just for the experience.
