Hey I'm kind of a computer beginner but I had a question about data usage. The past 3 months my comcast usage has doubled and I wasn't sure why. I checked out some stuff and twitch takes up 1 gb of data for every hour it's on. I've been watching twitch streams for years and this has been only become a problem recently. Any tips on how to reduce the usage? Chrome has shown 800 gb of usage just from my laptop, which is ridiculous.
Thanks for the advice, but that wasn't an issue until recently, and I've watched a lot more streams in the past. Any other reason why google chrome could be using so much data?Stream at lower resolutions. Lower bitrate=less bandwidth consumption.
I don't know, man, I completely lost trust in MS. Everything they tried seem to be half-assed for me. Whether it's their email program, DVR, multi-monitor support and UI scaling among other different things (none related to the Creator's update, yet). And after reading so many troubles (plus I think MS tries to take away control from the user with every new Windows version and update) I just stick with a running system. Is it safe to update to the creators update yet? Last time I tried it slowed down my computer and I had to revert back.
My guess would be recent changes to Twitch which allows higher resolution/bitrates for non-partnered accounts. You're probably now watching them at 1080p60 with higher bitrates than before, on average. Thanks for the advice, but that wasn't an issue until recently, and I've watched a lot more streams in the past. Any other reason why google chrome could be using so much data?
Why do OneDrive keeps randomly downloading files I didn't ask it to, nor any application is trying to use them?
Edit: With on demand active.
Holy shit I thought that Creators Update fucked up my old ass Laptop for good.
Like nothing worked anymore, Wifi, Ethernet, Graphics driver, ugh.
Luckily I was able to revert and now everything is fine again. What is in that update that this happens?
^ OS Build #?
Type winver in start menu.
I cannot stop my computer from waking up whenever I'm gone every day, all of a sudden. I turn off wake timers, I turn off keyboards, mice, and networks from waking it up, it still fucking wakes up. I cannot figure out what is waking this fucking computer up.
has any one ever had a problem with their PC or laptop auto dimming videos? The screen darkens during dark scenes for some reason, and I've tried every setting related to brightness and googled the problem a 1000 times, but I can't fix it. Thanks.
I'm waiting for the RTM ISOs to get published before upgrading.Anyone using RS3 final build? Is it reliable enough?
I'm going back to 7.

Version 1703 Build 15063.632
Diagnosing this kind of stuff on a message board is not easy. There is also no incentive to help people here since no one is getting paid.
4k Scaling truly is Broken for ever right ?
Why the fuck does Windows 10 automatically install free2play games and other crap apps? Clean install of the Fall Creators Update (1709) and there's almost a gigabyte worth of this unwanted shit already there. Candy Crush, Facebook, March of Empires, Minecraft, etc. Why?!?! Pro version and using offline account (not logged into Windows Store). Is there any way to disable this during the installation process that I've missed?
Scaling is a fundamental problem which Windows itself can never fully address because it relies on apps knowing about High DPI.
This fucking update sucks, my xbox one controller won't vibrate anymore.
Nevermind it was a battery issue.
(edit) fixing an oversight in my original post belowIsn't this update supposed to have the GPU option under Performance in task manager? Don't see it, but maybe it's because my laptop only has an Intel HD 4000?
Yes 1709 with all the other new stuff. Maybe it doesn't support older integrated GPUs?(edit) fixing an oversight in my original post below
It's there.
My laptop has two GPUs: One integrated and one discrete.
In the panel I see both of them, one is GPU 0 and the other is GPU1.
You sure you got the fall creators update? Your windows version should be 1709 if so. You can check this from typing "winver" in the run panel by pressing Win+R

the only things that don't have wddm 2.0 drivers are like Intel HD 4000 or pre 400 series Nvidia and similar. We're talking about really old GPUs.
