Sony fans like yourself have long been obsessed with so called Xbox influencers but now suddenly you're claiming social media is completely inconsequential? Curious.
I think all evidence points to these "Xbox influencers" being completely inconsequential.

I don't think anyone has ever claimed these guys make an impact, far from it, they are generally perceived as deranged clowns desperate for attention and free gamepass access.

It's very interesting that Jez Corden contributed to this article. I wouldn't be surprised at all if he's doing a deeper dive into the disinformation and will present his findings to MS execs before publishing his article. This could be the biggest story in gaming in a decade or more.

Jez Cordon, pillar of journalistic integrity, doing the Lord's work.

I will just say it again, I wasn't buying that this was true, being that if tt was there would be some sort of official announcement from either MS or the seller.

But I feel that the real takeaway here is that rumors like these even pop up.

To me the real takeaway here is that MS is producing so few of their consoles that there is none for Target to put in stock. I couldn't find the Series X anywhere on their website unless I checked include out of stock items. Series S said 1 left for all the locations near me.

It's good that Target clarified the situation but MS need to brace themselves for further disinformation attacks.
They now need to ensure that Jez Corden and the investigative team are given the proper resources to thoroughly scrutinize the bad actors involved and the possible funding sources behind them. How deep does this network run?

Who is going to play Jez Corden in the movie is all I want to know

No... this is a brand issue. Not an attack issue.

If you can't find Switch 2 stock or PS5 stock, and someone says that's because xyz store is no longer selling them... would you even for a second believe that or think it's plausible?

But you hear that about xbox, or even the rumors that they won't actually make a next-gen console... and it's more like that's true until proven otherwise.

That's a brand confidence and messaging issue.

Wow, you're on to something here! I bet there's a secret Discord channel where SneakersSO, Shinobi602, Gamestop's PR department, Costco sales managers and various other people are conspiring with Hermen Hulst to damage the reputation of Xbox. Oh, and let's not forget Sarah Bond and Phil Spencer, they must be part of that cabal too. How else to explain all that bad news!?!

Xbox was already not in a great place right now but clearly there are bad actors trying to take advantage of the situation by spreading disinformation to tarnish or "kill" the brand. MS need launch an immediate and sweeping investigation about this. Legal consequences should not be off the table for the perpetrators.

How are they still taking a loss? The thing is priced higher than a PS5 pro without the disk drive.
Well, video game consoles are directly impacted by The Orange One's tariffs. Combined with the more complicated engineering of the XSX, and a lack of scaling up of manufacturing due to low sales volumes, I can see where it's still not a profitable piece of kit.

You're absolutely correct that MS haven't helped themselves and contributed to an environment in which disinformation is allowed to run amok.
However, it's clear that there is also an orchestrated campaign to undermine the Xbox brand further. This simply cannot be allowed to continue unchallenged.

I note your sarcasm but I'd save it until after Jez Corden and the investigate team report their findings. There's something clearly not right about this situation and the Windows Central article is just the first step towards exposing the truth. I wasn't exaggerating earlier when I noted that legal consequences could be very much on the table. Fascinating times ahead.

Naw comeon man be reasonable they're not losing money on the console at 800$. Even Sony is making a good premium on the pro at 750$.

I didn't think it would be a top-down dictate from Walmart or Target headquarters. I didn't think Sam Walton was saying*, "No more Xboxes." I assumed it would be individual decisions made by owner/managers on a store level, based on the unique context of that store. So I'm not surprised to hear Target headquarters say they're still selling Xboxes in store - in some stores, yes, they are. And they say it'll be available online when stock is replenished. Ok, but available online isn't the same as in store.

We have plenty of reports of individual stores not stocking them. Have they simply all run out of stock? We know demand is low, so that's hard to believe - unless MS themselves have really turned down the supply, which would be odd timing, since you'd normally expect them to be ramping up for the big holiday season. I still think some of these stores have made the decision, on an individual level, to stop devoting shelf space to an item that isn't selling well.

*yes, I know Sam Walton didn't say anything, because he's dead. You know what I mean. ;p

Think a lot of this shit has purple origins, who so happen to be commercially owned, but I guess the guys who know, know.

I really hope you aren't being serious right now, and are just having a laugh at MS's expense. :messenger_grinning_squinting:

See you at the next one in either case.

Wait.....you were serious about this shit?

From the article:
As one of the world's most privileged companies, it deserves similarly powerful scrutiny. But, the sheer volume of misinformation and negativity out there risks turning others away from the ecosystem in its entirety — potentially harming customers, employees, and third-party developers alike who rely on Xbox's continued existence. Microsoft needs to do more here.
This is absolutely a situation which could end in legal consequences. The Windows Central piece is the first sign that MS are no longer playing around.

Don't you worry....
