Is there a way to Uninstall and Reinstall windows media player?

or perhaps downgrade to a later version like Windows Media player 9? (currently using 10)

I dont know why, but whenever i would select a file, it would take forever to start...or if i had a CD in and i would select a track for a CD it would take like 10 seconds to start playing...i dont know what the hell is taking it so long to pull up a file....but i think maybe its broken or something, i dont know. and no i dont want a third party device...i just want my old media player back cause it was fine.

peace

Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs >

If your using SP1, click Windows Media Player 10 and then Change/Remove.

If your using SP2, click the Show Updates box, Windows Media Player 10, and then Change/Remove.

what the heck is that?

It's called "media player classic". It's basically Media Player minus the bloat. Also supports all sorts of files, codecs and is rock hard stable. It also runs off of already installed codecs.

I updated to SP2 recently and for some reason, my WMP9 is gone and replaced by WMP10. But everytime I open it, it just asks me if I want to install it. And I didn't cause I don't use it anways. BSPlayer+MPC combo with the right codecs just plays everything out there IMO.

My sister upgraded to WMP10 and she rebooted and windows claimed it was missing a file/volume and wouldn't start

Fucking microsoft

Wow. Dragona and I see eye to eye :) I was just gonna recommend MPC myself. It certainly rocks.

But Dragona.....isn't there a way to adjust the brightness and contrast? I cannot locate any options to do so. Is there a plug in or something?

Don't forget it's also a nice Real Player alternative which is probably more bloatworthy than WMP.

Wondering...

At work they've got Media Player 6.4 loaded, cant install 7,8,9, or 10 due to the Admin rights.

Is there any way to get version 6.4 to play files that run on only on versions 7-10?

JC00l where's your avatar from?

I ran spybot which came across the DSO Exploit in Media Player. Now, anything that needs the mplayer.exe or whatever the file is, doesn't work. ZoomPlayer, BSPlayer (both of which I adore) only runs w/ certain files, while most will crash the app(s).

So now I have to use WMPC. I wish it had skins tho.

while we're on topic of WMP, codecs, videos and so on, make sure you get ffdshow.

Hmm, what is that?
