I just did installed the recommended updates, and one of them was a Malicious Software Removal Tool. I would imagine this is that beta spyware tool they came out with a few weeks back.

What do I have to do to use it? It's not showing up in my start menu or anything, and I'd like to use it.

It's this:

Which is different from this:

http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx

Use em both.
