Windows XP 64-bit Edition. Any real point in upgrading?

$50/hour, but no kissing on the lips and colors must be pre-separated
I purchased an Athlon 64 3000 processor and mobo this weekend and am presently staring down the barrel of a system reload. The 64-bit incarnation of XP has been out for a little while now, and most of the major hardware vendors are starting to put out compatible beta (emphasis on the beta) drivers. Is it still way too experimental at this point to bother messing with? Should I just stick with good 'ole Pro and current drivers? Anyone presently running this OS with any success? Thanks.

Not yet. Not everything is supported and right now there's no real performance gain unless you're into heavy A/V encoding. In the future, maybe, sure, but until stuff starts improving it's probably a better idea to stick to what you know works.

I bought one of the bundles from the Microsoft/AMD tech tour and installed XP64 when I put it all together. The lack of driver support was an issue for me (it wouldn't even work with the mobo's soundcard), as well as the lack of support for gaming. I reinstalled Windows XP for now. It was pretty fast though, so I'd definitely go for it when they're caught up.
