alright, Another 1, better than expected, the soundscape reminds me a lot of Ghost Hound, and the characters so far are enjoyable, I think. A lot of stereotypes, though, but I've got a feeling that might change later on. I also like the OP's melody a lot.

Hmmm, so
Karasawa DID have something significant under his hat after all.
Guess Tadakuni was unintentionally telling the truth.

How toned down is the banter compared to the novels? When I was comparing the Hitagi arc to the anime version, Senjougahara's verbal abuse of Koyomi seemed a lot harsher in the novel.
Did it? I don't really remember...
Anyway, the Nisemonogatari banter doesn't seem toned down to me, for what it's worth...

Certain Arcs in Ghost Hunt definitely freaked me out. Horror in Anime can definitely work I just feel Another lacks any kind of tension or subtlety.

To be honest, I don't find much Japanese horror scary at all - that goes for any medium that it's presented in.

Maybe I'm just feeling negative because I'm in the middle of that set, where
the protagonist has to choose between three women
.

I'm not a person who needs plot. Episodic stuff is wonderful. It's certainly working for me with Trapeze. But each episode still has to provide some new experience or insight for it to resonate, and feel like it belongs in the series. Tatami Galaxy usually manages to provide that (in fact, I really liked the episode before this one), but here it was just spinning its wheels.

Yeah, I'm not really a big fan of that specific set of episodes. However, that's literally the only part of the series that I have a problem with, as it picks up immediately afterwards.

Is it just me or is there a trend of tomboyish genki-girls as lead character? Within a year, we have Ohana (Hanasaku Iroha), Chihaya (Chihayafuru), and Madoka (Rinne no Lagrange). Not that I would complain, genki-girls are better than tsunderes, yanderes and kuuderes.

Hopefully it's just a part of the cyclical phasing-in of kuudere leads.

So from what sensei has taught me, our brains have a limited capacity; hence, the memories we accumulate cannot all be stored within it. So dreams are had where we determine what memories are stored or deleted. But what happens to that excess data doesn't simply disappear: it creates this dream world named, "Moera" where we find our harem protagonist and his harem always wandering into whenever the Tomokazu falls asleep... The hell is this? Regardless, I'm more upset they decided this exposition was a necessity when the show was fine without one. Then again, it finally gives the damn thing some much needed context, so the plot can finally have some significance.

This episode was also the most harem episode ever of the series. The harem setting finally has some answers. And the biggest answer I've been waiting for since Episode 1: Mizuki's relationship with Tomokazu is
being his childhood friend. Where's my death flags for her ending or do they not exist in 2004?
However, the most unsettling question answered is
Tomokazu is totally oblivious to the fact he has a harem! Why don't you realize your busty cousin loves you? How can your forget your loving sister from America?
Why are you so damn amorous with the kids?

Speaking of which, the self-aware comedy does nothing for me when the harem is as boring as this is.

Another 2 and 3, oh my, I surely didn't expect that :) well, maybe part of it, but hey, it was kinda obvious. Allright, I'll watch more of this.

Perhaps one day we'll be able to achieve something truly great and have a trend of well developed characters who aren't defined by a single feature!

One of these days I will have to check out at least one episode of Daily Lives, Another and Space Pirates. Maybe. If I ever have the time. I feel bad not at least trying some of these semi-popular shows.

I wouldn't really bother with Another or Space Pirates if I were you. Sure I'm following the former but it's not really anything special and unless you enjoy watching cute girls staring at monitors and babbling on and on about random sci-fi jargon you'll want to stay away from the latter.

Nichibros, on the other hand, I wholeheartedly recommend.

not if you use such words

I don't see many similarities between Chihaya and Madoka. They are not typical helpless anime girls but meh...

You underestimate the otaku's innate ability to boil down any one character into a single defining characteristic and then slap a name on it for easy consumption.

Whoa whoa WHOA!

You take that back! >:|

I think more than scary, I find a bunch unnerving. Stuff like Shiki was definitely creepy and unsettling at first.
I'd definitely agree with, I'm a big fan of the works of Junji Ito, for example, and his stuff definitely falls under the 'disturbing' category.

Hey man, who's that character in your avatar?
a moeified strip of bacon

whoa whoa whoa genki girls own but lets not get crazy here!

So tell me, is the "gatari" line of NisiOisin linked in any way? I just found out about Katanagatari and I'm tempted to watch, but I'm wondering if its going to be more of the same from Bakemo & Nisemo, or is it something different entirely?

Also, anyone want to give me some good action anime recommendations? I don't care about how old they are, I'm just kinda craving something after rewatching some Toonami promos in that recent thread.

You're right, they're certainly great at that. However, in all fairness most of the 'genki' females listed are fairly different from each other.

It's entirely different, but the patented Nisio endless amount of dialogue is still present.

No, it's something different entirely from that universe.

It probably was/or is close to my show of 2010. I just really had fun watching it.

They're only really similar in that there's lots and lots of spoken dialogue between characters.

That's because J horror almost always comes in two flavors: ghost stories and guro shit. So if you're not scared by disembowelment or creepy little girls with long black hair (lol), it probably isn't going to work on you in that way. I don't necessarily think that the aim of horror as a genre should be to induce Pavlovian jump scares, tho, so that doesn't make them all failures.

I'd certainly agree with you that 'jump-scares' don't, and shouldn't define 'horror' - there's nothing particularly impressive about them. I just don't find a lot of the 'ghost stories' particularly suspenseful or creepy either.
