What does Overture to a New War cover exactly? I've already scene the first ep now, but if it covers any more past it, I'll just watch it instead.

It's an expanded and much better telling of the events of the first two episodes. I'd start the series with My Conquest Is the Sea of Stars, then Overture of a New War, then episode 3 of the OVA.

It may surprise you to find out that sometimes anime is worth more than $0!

Just what are you implying?
You just haven't seen the light.
It's not that I haven't seen the "light", it's just I don't have the (super) disposable incomes that some of you people have. :\

I'm not an adult. And K-ON and iM@S have very little suggestive scenarios. Invalid! And calling shit like Berserk and Ninja Scroll merely "a rendition of violence" is being silly. There is such thing as excessive and downright disgusting.

But yes, I think extreme violence is more deplorable than depicting underage girls doing stuff, which shouldn't be considered deplorable at all so long as it just stays that.
I don't really see why - if a show is going to depict violent acts it should at least have the guts to show the (often graphic) consequences of violence, rather than having it sanitised. I find works that show the hero and bad-guy hitting each other hundred of times without either of them becoming incapacitated or badly wounded offensive because that's suggests that violence has no consequence.

The first and second episode, but in much greater detail. I don't really recommend watching My Conquest is a Sea of Stars yet, you might as well save it for later.

How recently have you seen both?

Last week.
You just haven't seen the light.

Going to gladly pay $80+ (damn you ever morphing exchange rate) for Innocence in the upcoming weeks as well. Will be worth every overvalued yen. And if I can't get any solid info on the Patlabor HK discs, I'll probably end up taking the plunge on the JP discs too and they're probably going to run me $100+ each because I want the Nice Box edition if I'm already going to be paying an assload.

And I am definitely getting the Jin-Roh reprint coming for only 3.6k yen. Or maybe I'll get the Japanese original release for $toomuch, Nice Box and all:

Box is sturdy chipboard, no flimsy cardboard shit. Same sort of Nice Box that Patlabor, GITS, and Wings of Honneamise (including the US release which I own, and is how I know HOW NICE THESE BOXES ARE) are in.

Also the wrap is resealable!!!!!!
Hmm, that looks hot. I'm very happy with my stupidly limited edition Patlabor DVD's, although I didn't pay anywhere near the original asking price for them.

AHAHHAHAHAHHAHA oh my god

This truly is Tomino's greatest work.

WINGS OF MY HEART!

Is Persona worth watching if I never played any of them?

Yes. It's pretty shitty at times but its a decent watch from what i've seen

I stopped watching at episode 4 or so only because I stopped playing the game half-way through a while ago and want to finish the game so that I don't spoil the story for myself through the anime. (From what i've played, the story is much more detailed in the game). So I guess if you have the chance, play the game instead?

Start with Tokikake Makoto, take out human ears, put in squirrel ears and tail, add sailor soldier suit, add long yellow neckscarf.

ONE MAKOTO TO RULE THEM ALL

And in the darkness bind them.
You seem to have conveniently left out the part where she begins a career as an idol singer as well.

Any attorney worth his salt would realise the implication of icarus' words, Ms. von Karma. I'm beginning to believe the prosecution lacks wit as much as they lack temper.

You underestimate me. Only a foolish fool such as yourself would foolishly make such foolish accusations against me so foolishly.

WINGS OF MY HEART!

Talking of which, I don't think anyone has noticed how vandalized the Wikipedia page for Garzey's Wing is. This is all from here - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Garzey's_Wing

Christopher Senshu

Chris is the popular main character in the film. The story in based around him and his adventures in Byston Well. He is depicted as a regular half Japanese, half Caucasian boy who is trying to get into college but has already failed the college entrance exams twice now. He can turn into Garzey's Wing when he or someone that he cares about is in grave danger. He is easy-going.

Rumiko

A close personal friend of Chris who helps him get through the rough times as he is fighting in Byston Well. Some viewers might be convinced that there is a romantic relationship between Chris and Rumiko, though it is never clearly stated in the dialog.

Leelince

A female warrior among the slaves. She takes a position of semi-leadership in the escape. She is able make contact with a hooded figure who is a valuable fighter for the cause. She also exemplifies an attitude of jealously towards the relationship between Chris and Hassan-san. She is able to overcome her jealousy through a single shot of her shown in inversed colours in episode 3.

Hassan-san

The priestess who is able to summon Chris to Bryston Well, using the eight Earthenware bells made from special blue clay. It is questioned how such a devious mind can hide in such innocent beauty. A more serious indictment comes from the general of the war beasts when he accuses Hassan-san of being a fake maiden. Whether or not these claims have any backing has the potential to tarnish an otherwise wholesome reputation.

Chris' other friends

Chris' other friends show a true, genuine sense of friendship towards Chris. It is evident when they believe Chris and don't even question the possibility that Chris might be going crazy when he starts to feel sick and begins communicating with the Chris in Byston Well. Other than their undeniable trust and friendship towards Chris, they are also sexy. One who is specifically names is Ms. Tarsier.

Narrator

While only having brief lines throughout the anime, His most notable role is in the introduction of Garzey's wing when Chris is taken away by the giant duck. The Narrator is controversially referred to as being a ghost when Chris breaks the fourth wall by asking him "WHAT THE WHO ARE YOU A DAMN GHOST!?" and the narrator/ghost replies with "Why do think this is the work of a ghost?" His true identity may forever remain a mystery to the viewers, but it is safe to assume that he might also be an eligible candidate in being the renowned and celebrated Yamato Takeru no Mikoto.

Themes
Humanity at heart

The leader of the slaves, who is represented through a bearded old man, follows a strict belief that "humans are just human", which can also be understood as the moral of this tale in Byston Well. Chris is only human so he can only act as human through his human nature to protect human kind. Although it may seem to be a deep concept to grasp, the idea can easily understood after a thorough analysis of the anime.
