Man, the ending was so good.
Certainly sad seeing Kissuiso empty, but everyone moved with their lives, having obtained valuable experiences. Really loved that kind of ending, much better than the classic "We gotta saved this place->We did it!->Hooray!". Also, I'm just so surprised that Ko ended up with Ohana, seemed like he was doomed to be forgotten at first. I certainly enjoyed their love story, which really was secondary to the show and this is fine.

Anyway, the series had some sour spots, but my overall impressions are very positive. Great characters who had a lot of development, a heartwarming story and a generally beautiful show. Ohana was a very good heroine too. I was expecting a SoL show, but this ended up, in a lot of ways, be very different. More like a country side drama with SoL moments I suppose.

I guess I'm watching the movie now.

Worst case scenario; if it isn't split 'cours', we have to wait for 25 EPISODES to air before Netflix makes it available globally! :-/

Well, they did split Kuromukuro into 2 parts when they added it on Netflix. They added 13 episodes first and then the last 13 later on.

Legit shook, lol.
Everyone hates SAO. But everyone is still going to watch that movie. I'm putting money on it lol. I chose to be a free spirit, free of the shackles of anime society, and just say that I like it. Oh and Mahouka too. That movie is going to be EPIC let me tell you

Hi AnimeGAF, I'm hoping to get some suggestions on what to watch next.

I kinda feel like I've already seen every big/well known show that I'd be interested in, and even plenty of obscure things that still regularly show up on various top 10 underrated anime lists. I'd also prefer suggestions from earlier than 2015, since that's when I started following shows seasonally, and I feel I'm pretty well caught up. Basically, I'm looking for shows that either slipped under the radar for one reason or another, or shows with flaws that keep them from being universally recommended but still have enough redeeming values to be worth watching.

Mostly, I'm looking for two different kinds of shows.

First, a good, decently fast paced (so no 100+ episode shounens) action show with a focus on fast and interesting visuals. Some examples of shows like that that I feel are very rarely mentioned:

Yozakura Quarter (the 2013 one)
Xam'd
Noein

Secondly, something with a good and interesting world, where it feels more like the world and its mysteries are the main draw, as opposed to characters or the overall plot, if possible with the presentation of said world being as unique or imaginative as possible, or even just something with unique and otherworldly visuals. Some examples I've seen would be:

Several Space Dandy episodes (like 21, 18, 9)
Angel's Egg
Shin Sekai Yori
Gankutsuou
Mononoke

Really though, I'm open to any suggestions that have a strong and distinct visual or animation style. It seems most anime reviews focus much more on the story/character side of things than on the visuals/overall execution, which can make finding interesting shows to watch rather difficult for me, as I much prefer the latter. For reference of what I've already seen, here's my MyAnimeList, although it might not be 100% up to date: https://myanimelist.net/animelist/Pellaidh.

I recommend Yuasa's often overlooked Kemonozume. It's a 13 episode series with super distinct art, quite a bit of action (but it's not the focus), nudity and sex, nice animation, and a gripping love story about yakuzas fighting man eating demons.

I remember when you got Corn to put the first season of that in the preview thread :p

He's right though. There's no reason why there shouldn't be representation for shows just because they're BL or whatever. I think people just don't know these shows even exist, so there are no banners. :p

There's a Hibike! Euphonium hole in my heart so I'll try to find a show that's able to fill it for a bit until the new season well and truly starts.

Guess I'll finally try Hyouka. I'm curious.

Fuuka also needs representation on the OP, the more people start it, the better. I have reasons.

There's a Hibike! Euphonium hole in my heart so I'll try to find a show that's able to fill it for a bit until the new season well and truly starts.

Guess I'll finally try Hyouka. I'm curious from some of the stuff I heard about this show.

Well, if you liked Eupho, it's guaranteed that you'll enjoy Hyouka. It's a very interesting show and just as beautiful as Eupho.

I strongly doubt you've seen everything worthwhile, considering the wealth of anime that's been produced over the decades. Even as far as big or well known works go, I imagine there's a number of older anime that you haven't seen yet.

Xam'd

While they don't all have the same approach to animation as the shows you listed, some action anime which don't drag and which have eye-catching visuals I would recommend are:

Blue Exorcist movie
Boruto: Naruto the Movie
Code:Breaker
Dirty Pair (especially the movie Project Eden)
Doraemon: Nobita's Dinosaur 2006
Fullmetal Alchemist 2003
Fullmetal Alchemist: The Sacred Star of Milos
Fuse: Memoirs of a Huntress
Gunsmith Cats
Hunter X Hunter 1999
Jojo's Bizarre Adventure OVA 1993
Kara no Kyoukai Movie 5: Paradox Spiral
Kizuna Ichigeki
One Piece Movie 6
One Piece Film Z
X/1999 (movie)
You Are Umasou

Secondly, something with a good and interesting world, where it feels more like the world and its mysteries are the main draw, as opposed to characters or the overall plot, if possible with the presentation of said world being as unique or imaginative as possible, or even just something with unique and otherworldly visuals. Some examples I've seen would be:

Several Space Dandy episodes (like 21, 18, 9)
Angel's Egg
Shin Sekai Yori
Gankutsuou
Mononoke

For this kind of work, I would recommend the following (including several anthologies):

Ani*Kuri15
Aoi Bungaku
Boogiepop Phantom
Casshern Sins
Fantasic Children
Flowers of Evil
Genius Party and Genius Party Beyond
Gosenzosama Banbanzai!
Iblard Jikan
Kagewani (S1 only)
Kaiba
Kemonozume
Kyousougiga
Metropolis
Mushishi
Patlabor Movies 1 and 2
Pupipo
Robot Carnival
Sengoku Collection (certain episodes)
Space Battleship Yamato 2199
Urusei Yatsura Movie 2: Beautiful Dreamer
Wolf's Rain

Really though, I'm open to any suggestions that have a strong and distinct visual or animation style. There are a number of people here who do care about visuals (as well as plenty of people who don't, of course), so you should be able to find a couple sympathetic souls here. I used your MAL to draw my recommendations from the overlap of what I have seen and what you have not according to your list.

Well, I think that I said some things out of line at the time in defense of it and made a couple peeps angry with me. I know it was BL, but wasn't aware of it's nature at the time, so yeah. All for representation, however....

I didnt realise blue exorcist was so close
:0

Yes. I just finished the first season last week to get ready! The show was a ton of fun and the dub was pretty good. I'm putting together an OT for it as well.

I see what you did there!

It is the Year of the Cock after all.

Oh you...

Well, it was more about the description he got Corn to use for the show.

Blast of Tempest (duckroll note: there are chunks of lolz worthy boring shit inbetween the series sadly, but the opening episodes have some fantastic fucking action. The ending is alright too.)
Eccentric Family (Very good)

Fantasic Children
Flowers of Evil
Genius Party and Genius Party Beyond
Kemonozume
Kyousougiga
Mushishi
Space Battleship Yamato 2199
Wolf's Rain

Good recommendations.

In fact.

Wait.

He hasn't watched Wolf's Rain or Yamato 2199? But he gave Garo 9/10 and Sword of the Stranger 10/10?

STOP EVERYTHING AND WATCH WOLF'S RAIN AND YAMATO 2199. Lol.
