One other random thing that struck me was how it seems like everything in her office is still done by hand. In many ways, Japan's office culture is remarkably conservative about adopting new technology, but I have thought that most magazines would have moved to word processors and digital printing by the time this manga began eight or nine years ago.
Oh, yeah, that's certainly noteworthy. My area is the internet, so I don't have any reason to write anything by hand ever, but from what friends tell me even newsrooms that deal exclusively with magazines and newspapers have abandoned paper for drafts a long time ago.
I bet things would probably be different if the manga was more recent, though. A lot can change in eight years.
