Witcher 3 Collector's Edition getting exclusive physical content on XB1 [CDP Comment]

Everyone realizes these are items ADDED to the collectors edition that are probably just fully payed for by microsift right?
Microsoft is paying for the added items? If so,then high five to the guys at Microsoft for hooking up the people who purchased the collectors edition.

While I would like if people on other platform could get all this as well, this is a bit different case. They can offer all of that because they own GOG. They do not own other people's shops. I think they cannot offer these goodies on digital Xbone live or Playstation Plus shop. If they could, then they should.

Well, yeah, but we're talking about the physical collector's edition and obviously things that are entirely digital can't be included. Also, no reason to include things you can't use in a console. My point is that they have been doing exclusive content for a while now, even since The Witcher 2. True, they own GOG, but it's still exclusive content, for a cheaper price, even if you take away the games included. So they never really lied about parity. The Witcher 2 on GOG and Steam were different in terms of pre-order content and the same happened when they announced pre-order bonus for The Witcher 3, even before this. They obviously meant game parity, not the different editions available for each platform.

This would be a good argument if they properly explained the decision and elaborated on it like you are doing. But as it is, it is just a conjecture on your part.

Sure it is. They aren't going to say that though, certainly not in a press release. Maybe they'll address it at some point in a less formal place. However, what other motive is there? I doubt they are doing this because they really wanted to give Xbox owners a little something extra.

No one is going to preorder the xbox one version for these bonuses if they weren't already going to get the collector's edition. I have it preordered for PC, you think I'm going to buy an xbox one and get the collector's edition? Even if I had an xbox one I wouldn't buy it. I always wanted this game for pc so it's absolute crap that I can't play a card game with my good friends now.

MS def thinks its going to attract somebody, otherwise they wouldn't be paying for it. I'm willing to bet that MS really wanted in-game exclusives and CDPR resisted, and this is the compromise we end up with. You're still getting exactly what was promised to you in the PC CE, the only difference today is that Xbox owners get a couple extra toys.

I can't believe some people are so upset. It does change my view of cdpr a tiny bit but they are still a great gaming company worthy of everyone's support.

Niceee, I swear moving in with a non gaming gf is the worst.

She would not appreciate how awesome this is and would moan.

Already had a battle to get the Destiny Ghost edition

She should respect what you want to use your money on mate. If its from the shared account then.. yeah, probably would not buy something like this, but if your money sorely, she should appreciate the nerdy part of you. :D

Married to a non-gamer.

If you are pooling your finances together and If you haven't done this yet - work out a budget where you each get to funnel a percentage of your shared pay into a discretionary account.

No bitchin aloud or allowed about what you use your funds for. Same goes with what she buys with her money - in fact feign super interest and let her make her own stupid purchases.

W3 is still going to be one of few games next year without exclusive in game content on any platform - that is worth commending. if there needs to be some extra physical shit to appease retailers so be it.

I usually don't care about or buy collector editions nor do I care about the added value in this case. What really worries me is the fact that they promised to treat all gamers equally.

We’ll not deliver exclusive content to any of the platforms, nor will we artificially delay release of the game on any of the platforms because somebody’s paying us money for that. It’s definitely against our values.
We are not doing that.
So what's next? Exclusive DLC? Platform specific DRM?

I can't bring myself to care very much since I'm going digital but this is a strange thing to see from CDPR. Bad idea.

They already don't. The GOG version of the game is gonna include a bunch of stuff that console gamers won't get, stuff Steam users won't even get. That's all digital knick knacks though, kind of like this. The actual game is going to be the same for everyone which is the implication I'm sure the quote is going for.

I still think that the Collectors edition should have parity just because it's decent chunk of money.

They're still treating us equally and didn't break the promise of parity, because they meant game parity. Like I said before, The Witcher 2 was already the same thing, so nothing has really changed.

That's gotta be rough for people who like that kinda thing. I've never been a fan of paying extra for what is to me, useless clutter.

DLC = Downloadable Content

You wouldn't download a cloth map would you? What about a pack of cards? A car maybe.

Gamestop used to (they still might) hand out physical content pre-order bonuses too. This is really no different.

Wasn't there some Alien exclusive pre-order in-game content that got a lot of flack as well?

I can't believe that some people on GAF - full of supposed gaming veterans - are acting outraged about exclusivity. Especially about stuff like cloth maps in collector's editions.

Shit is getting ridiculous.

That is one of my ultimate fears, and its why I'm still alone. Finding a woman who plays video games is the hardest challenge in my life.

I'm okay with this. If they want to put more swag in the xbone collector's edition, that's cool. It is all the in-game content that I'm worried about.

In the end, it doesn't really matter to me, since if there is even a chance that a game might have DLC, I just wait until a complete edition is released anyway.

CD Projekt is known for releasing a free upgrade one year after the release, including a lot of fixes, optimizations and hours of new content. It's called "Enhanced Edition". You won't have to wait for it, because it will be free for anyone that will have The Witcher 3. Sure, you can wait, but they don't release paid DLC.

Just canceled my pre-order on Amazon. With this kind of exclusive BS, CDPR ain't getting my money day 1.

Gaming girlfriends are highly overrated.

I didn't appreciate playing games by myself until I dated a girl that loved video games. She wanted to be there when I played single player games (so I had to practically play by her schedule because she didn't want to miss any of the story), and she was a nightmare armchair gamer, constantly telling me to do this or that. Then she'd want me to watch her play games, and she was TERRIBLE. At all genres.

Although that is a worse case scenario.

This is... incredibly annoying to say the least.

CDPR were the last developers I trusted. Because of that, I preordered my CE the first day they were available and I'm a huge fan of gadgets (loved the good ol' Ultima times, when a normal copy had so much stuff inside, often cloth maps). I'm very disappointed that they betrayed my trust and sold out to ms.

At least it isn't in-game content... but as someone who has pre-ordered the PC CE, it's a little annoying.

I don't really get why this is happening though, I don't see what Microsoft stands to gain from presumably paying someone off to add this stuff in when it's something that's going to sell out almost immediately anyway.
