Witcher 3 PC Performance Thread

Asus Rog Swift G-Sync Monitor.
780Ti x 2 GPU (both factory OC)
4770k @ 4.3 CPU
16GB 2400mhz RAM
840 Evo SSD
Windows 7 + Latest patch and drivers.

All i have to say is, God Bless G-Sync.

I have everything at ultra with hairworks on. I turned on everything possible.

I'm running on unlimited frame rate on 1440p and im getting between 30-60fps (deeding on the situation).

G-Sync handles the dips and the highs with grace, smooth as butter the whole way through.

All the IQ i want with no tearing and every but as responsive as i could wish.

Stop making me want to spend money on one of those sweet, sweet Acer IPS G-Sync 1440p monitors.

Anyone else not getting any SLI scaling? DSR and custom resolutions off still only get like 5-10 fps more in SLI.

40fps maxed/ultra @4K on one Titan X, 45 on two :/ I also see the cards have less power draw..

I've looked through the bin files and it looks like the game should be quite tuneable above the standard settings in the game. Possible to push it much further than it is initially.

The game crashed during the first post-tutorial battle for me running borderless windowed.

Happened for me during the cutscene after the campfire scene, and then again in the first tavern after choosing a dialog option.

Haven't tested for SLi scaling yet but this is ridiculously disappointing to hear. Another game, developed closely with nVidia, having terrible SLi support at launch. Absolute fucking crap. CDPR really has let their entire operation go into the toilet.

In the first scene I have 50fps~ with everything on, and just over 60fps~ with HairWorks off @ 1440p. Slight overclock on the cards.

Nice. Mind turning hairworks on and telling us your results? Also bump it to 4K if possible?

Hoping for 4K hairworks on with some tweaking on my SLI 970 FTW's with a bit of an OC.

Game unlocked like 15 minutes before I had to leave for work. Was so tempted to call out. Will play 12.5 hours from now.

Have everything set to 1080p Ultra on a 970, but I put foliage density on high and hairworks is off. Solid 60fps so far in the first hour of the game.

I have a G-Sync monitor and I'm running this on a solid state drive but I'm still getting some awful stuttering when wandering around the open world. Seems related to asset streaming. Sigh.

Turned off Hairworks? That caused a stuttering mess for me.

Posted above but they are

Windows 8.1
16GB DDR4-2666 Memory
i7-5820K
Titan X 12GB
Crucial MX100 512GB SSD

I'm going to uninstall the driver with Driver Sweeper and see if that helps. I saw on Reddit that it was necessary for some people to do that to get SLI working.

Yeah, something's definitely up. That sounds exactly like my system, minus the SLI. I'm hoping Driver Sweeper will do the trick for you.

Anybody tried this with a Core 2 Quad? I'd like to play the game now while I wait for my other PC to be fixed, but I don't know if it'll even run.I meet the requirements except the CPU.

Cool, I have a i5-2500k at 4.4ghz so my performance should be about the same.

Yep. I imagine AMD will release drivers in the next few weeks that may even bump the FPS a few...which would be great, because if the minimum FPS goes up just a couple, I (we) could turn up a few more options. HBAO+ and shadows only drop a couple of frames, but it's enough to dip under 30 right now.

i7 4770k 4.2 ghz, GTX 980 and 16gb DDR3, playing at 1080p every setting maxed out(Hairworks is set to All) except for Chromatic aberration and Blur(i dont like either), so far min fps is 39, average is 45 fps, also i dont know if its just me but Borderless seems to be causing a lot of sttuter so i changed it to Fullscreen, i got my hopes too high after hearing that one GTX 980 could get this game at 60 fps average, also my game crashed 3 times in 45m

Is the game's first cutscene (The one with the battle and the crow to the eye) mute? I don't have any sound at it, but it's normal for the rest of the game.

For the new page. I'll leave it alone after this.

You could probably run a mix of ultra/high at locked 30fps. I think that's better than ps4 performance.

I just played for about 30 min before it crashed, longest so far. This sucks.

4970k @ 4.8
980 FTW
16gb RAM
Win 8.1

Getting pretty close to 60fps, everything on except motion blur and CA, 1440p, ultra, vsync on, hairworks off

Playing with a controller
Borderless wouldn't work, neither does fullscreen

I must be missing something, I have 980's in SLI and ROG Swift and I can easily tell the difference between 30fps and 60fps on this monitor... are you playing with a controller? I feel like when I play games with a controller it's less noticible, but when moving a mouse it's extremely obvious.

I was under the impression all GSync did was prevent any screen tearing.

Yup, im on a controller but i used the M/KB for a bit and it was also fine.

I've only played for an hour so not at any heavily populated areas but so far i haven't had any slow down, not stuttering, not a single tear and my responsiveness seems more or less unaffected. I would say its averaging in the 40s and 50s as opposed to dramatic 30-60 all the time.

Turned off Hairworks? That caused a stuttering mess for me.

Doesn't make a difference. Framerate's fine if I stay in a small area and walk around. Once I start moving far enough that the game wants to load in more areas, I get a stutter.

Feels like something that won't be easily fixed, if it gets fixed at all.

edit: Actually, that's not true. Once it starts stuttering, it continues to stutter for a while even if I just stand still and rotate the camera.

Runs like shit on my setup. i7 3770k @4.4GHz, 3 SLI old Titans 4k/60Hz, Hairwork off, etc. Have to lower the settings to get a decent framerate.

Really need new videocards to run @ 4k.

I heard you can go ahead and grab the patch (or will be able to) without having to get the game first, just to have it ready. Has CDPR posted a link to it yet (this is what it did for Witcher 2)?

2700k @ 4Ghz
GTX 670 slight OC
Med-High settings @50-60 fps
Windows 10 10074

Still getting constant crashes every 5-10 minutes on 350.12, 352.84 and 352.86

No other game is doing this.

OC 4690K & Titan X - I've set everything to max at 1080p looks nice and very smooth however framerate drops whenever I'm talking to someone or when there's a cutscene.

For the new page. I'll leave it alone after this.

You'll be able to run it on Medium at a solid 60FPS with hairworks off I'd imagine.

It will look similar, probably better than PS4, but with the added bonus of silky smooth frame rate which is what ultimately made me go with the PC version.

Oh and Medium is nothing to cry about in case that sounds disappointing, the differences between Medium and Ultra aren't too much of a gap. It still looks great.

Useful image on how well you will be able to run the game HERE.

Did the same for me windowed or not.

My audio dies each time. That means it's the Nvidia driver crashing.

I just did a full driver uninstall...restarting.

My audio did not die, though. Right when the battle was about to start the game window was minimized, but I kept hearing audio as if the battle was playing out. After about 20 seconds the Witcher 3 process ended. To be more specific, this was the first battle against beasts after doing the tutorial part in the Witcher fort.

Stop making me want to spend money on one of those sweet, sweet Acer IPS G-Sync 1440p monitors.

For me G-Sync is what makes me play on my PC over my Xbone/PS4 even though i have the big screen and sound system hooked up to those.

Even though i'm on my second swift (first one died, they don't have a great track record) i absolutely love it (when it works).

Game keeps resetting my graphics settings... Anyone else having this problem?

(Happens after I use the automatic setting from Geforce Experience)

3570k and a gtx 970 here @ 1080p on ultra, not many problems. I'll get fraps up in a minute. some studdering during early cut scenes, but looking good so far. Controls feel weird though.

Look at this :

And many others just like this in various forums. This is the first game in my life that made me doubt my machine might have a problem somewhere hardware wise. Never had this kind of problems with any game before -except bf3 which was driver related at the time and at least single player was working flawless- This can't be driver related because all kinds of hardware from titan-x's to amd fx 8350's are effected.

This is ridiculous.

GTX 780
i5-2500
8GB RAM

Performance is much worse than I thought, but the upshot is that the 30 FPS lock is really well implemented and smooth as silk. Not even gonna try for 60 FPS.

I just set everything to high, turn off hair works, turn on HBAO, and forget it.

(Also, no crashes so far but it's only been 30 minutes)

Turning down "foliage visibility" from ultra to high gets me 10 more fps. From 35 to 45. Everything else Ultra w/ SSAO and no motion blur at 1080p. Seems to be the biggest jump I've seen from any setting so far.

4770k @ 4.2
7970 @ 1050 w/ latest drivers
16gb ram
windows 8.1

60~40 with everything high and hairworks off with:

AMD Phenom II X4@3.6GHz
8GB DDR2
680GTX 4GB

Game looks fantastic.

i7-4790k
290x

Getting 30-40fps on Ultra with hairworks off 1200p. Hairworks takes off about 10 fps, and I can't afford it. Game still looks great without it though, thankfully.

SLI is definitely working for me. In the same scene,

Off - 25fps
On - 49fps

Okay I definitely can run this game on Ultra at 30fps with Hairworks turned off.

The lowest drop being to 28fps.

I think I'll drop shadow detail and background characters to high and see if that fixes the dropping down to 28fps.

Still it looks amazing.

Far superior to my Skyrim + 2K Textures and ENB setup.
