I think Ang Lee's Hulk had a 70% drop in its second weekend

People tuned waaaaaay the hell out for that thing

Ya, I guess it rounded up to 70% (69.7%).

I suppose 65-70% is a good guess for Fantastic Four. Its Saturday and Sunday drops weren't big enough to suggest 75%. We will know more as the week progresses.

Hmm, that's a good question. It may need to be that they have to include Fantastic Four in the title for it to count (which iirc is why the first Wolverine movie was titled "X-Men Origins: Wolverine"; didn't need to do that for the second one because it was already sandwiched between two X-Men movies).

Fantastic Four v X-men. Lol.

In more positive news, Ant-Man is having decent legs.

Bottom tier MCU 4th weekends

Thor - $9.5M (-38%) - $160M total
Ant-Man - $7.9M (-38%) - $148M total
Captain America: First Avenger - $7.2M (-42%) - $157M total
The Incredible Hulk - $4.9M (49%) - $125M total

Thor's 4th weekend was Memorial Day weekend, so Ant-Man is actually holding better than all of these films.

I think Ant-man will hit $165M and $170M could happen.

Kevin Feige look at me. Fuck the F4, Fox can keep them. You get Doom back. Cast Mark Strong or Littlefinger to play him. Put him with Cumberbatch. Make the big screen adaptation of Triumph and Torment, and then proceed to rob me all of my life savings. I would go broke watching that movie.

1. Die Hard with a Vengeance
2. Toy Story
3. Apollo 13
4. GoldenEye
5. Pocahontas
6. Batman Forever
7. Seven
8. Casper (Really?)
9. Waterworld
10. Jumanji

This is my year.

Anyway, F4's drop from estimates is hilarious. I can see it finishing under 50M tbh.

I forgot, Fox wants to make a X-Men based TV series but Marvel still has control of the TV rights apparently so there's some incentive.

All I want is a big screen, REAL, Jack Kirby as fuck Galactus.

edit: 69.7% for Ang Lee Hulk, close enough. Elektra and X-Men Origins with dem 69%, shoutouts to Fox(and their unnamed executives)

People suck. I don't think its a great movie or anything but its really interesting imo. Damn good acting from nolte and Bana too. Loved that final conversation between them

It's the most interesting thing anybody's done with hulk on movies so far easy

All I remember about this movie was the split screens, that hot guy, and that Connelly was in it.

Nothing in this suggestion contains the words Mads or Mikkelsen.

I don't feel old, but the top movies my birth year sure are

Grease
Superman
National Lampoon's Animal House
Every Which Way but Loose
Heaven Can Wait
Hooper
Jaws 2
Dawn of the Dead
Revenge of the Pink Panther
The Deer Hunter

Let Fox make X-Men TV series and get the FF franchise back to Marvel, but if Fox plays hardball still at least try to get Kang, Galactus and Silver Surfer in return. Doom borrowed for 2 or 3 films.

Straight Outta Compton looking very strong going into the weekend. Dre dropping his album certainly boosted the movie's profile a fair bit

5. The Karate Kid
6. Police Academy
7. Footloose
8. Romancing the Stone
9. Start Trek III
10. Splash

I feel pretty old :(

Any tracking on Compton, by the way? I'm feeling like expecting north of 30 mil for the weekend isn't out of bounds. Curious to see if it could be closer to 40, though.

Top movies of my birth year

1 Back to the Future
2 Rambo: First Blood Part II
3 Rocky IV
4 The Color Purple
5 Out of Africa
6 Cocoon
7 The Jewel of the Nile Fox
8 Witness
9 The Goonies
10 Spies Like Us

My year seems tame compared to some other 80s years. Oh well, at least I got Back to the Future - the first part in one of the greatest movie trilogies ever.

Seeing the way doom is treated makes me sad as he is one of marvels GOAT's.

Thinking of doom I would love if Marvel ever got the rights back give him the "Beasts of no nation" Treatment, Limited release, to not fuck with their phase 3 plans. And then release it on Netflix soon after.

- Based on Books of Doom by Brubaker
-Have Doom be a ruthless dictator that cares and loves his people
-Treat it like the Nazi's back in WWII where doom goes on a land grab for latveria, and the worlds governments appease him to avoid war.
-Very serious feel, like Schlinders list, and not jokes every 5 seconds like Age of Ultron
- Explore his relationship with his Gypsy mother and father
-How do the avengers react to dooms actions?
-How did doom become doom?

My Cast Choice
-Cary Fukunaga As Director
-Mads Mikkelson as Doom
-Lars Mikkelson as Prime Minister of Latveria
-Eva Green as Morgan Le Fay
-Story by Brubaker and Hitchman

Shameless post promotion

The first person in your casting choice isn't part of the cast, and no fucking way Cary Fukunaga gets within LOUISIANA-sized distance of a Marvel movie.

But yeah, Books of Doom is a good idea, since it's obvious most people really only give a fuck about Doom, and not really the FF.

All over the place
Deadline is predicting 40-50, whilst some others are in the mid-high 20's

Why don't people love the FF AND Doom?

I dunno. It's not like there aren't good stories. They just don't seem to stick to people. Or people don't find 'em amidst all the other shit also vying for their attention.

As a Superman fan, you're familiar with how this sorta shit happens.

Why don't people love the FF AND Doom?

Because they're boring as shit and 1950's. Boom, done. It's not that hard to see from asking people to name comic characters. Same with Green Lantern years back. Nobody outside of like 1% of comic fans can name them.

To be fair, not many people would've named Ironman either until Robert Downey Junior played him and played him well. The major problem with F4 is that Fox has tried to tell their origin story and nobody cares. They need "character" to actually get them off the ground.

Just hit 36 today. Firmly in old man GAF now?

Same birthday. I dunno why I found that amusing, but I do.

Boom, done.

This is false. They are hard to write though. Most comic writers can figure out Spider-man or Batman and put out some decent stories. The Fantastic Four get a good writer match like once a decade. When it happens, the book tends to be excellent (as in one of the best monthlies Marvel puts out). The rest of the time it isn't really worth reading.

It doesn't help that Hickman recently wrapped up (or is wrapping up depending on how you count New Avengers/Secret Wars) a top 3 run of all time for the Fantastic Four, and probably a top 20 Marvel run of all time. Everything will seem shitty in comparison for awhile.

Universal making that final push.

Jurassic World Returning to IMAX 3D Theaters for One Week

IMAX and Universal Pictures today announced that Universal and Amblin Entertainment’s global-record-breaking film, Jurassic World, will receive a special week-long engagement in domestic IMAX 3D theaters beginning August 28.

Since its record-setting global IMAX release on June 12, Jurassic World has become the second-highest-grossing film in IMAX’s history, with $116 million and counting, second only to Avatar.

Whenever a game uses "middleware," I expect mediocrity. Just see how poor TLOU looks.
Have a deal to see The Man from UNCLE with my friend, as long as the rottentomatoes score stays above 60% by Saturday

Likely to happen?

Solid list. My birth year:
Kramer vs. Kramer
Amittyville Horror
Rocky II
Apocalypse Now
Star Trek: The Motion Picture
Alien
10
The Jerk
Moonraker
Muppet Movie

Geezer five!

JW is about 23 million away from Titanic's record now. So... this re-release would need to push at least 15 million or more to make that happen right?
Yes, I doubt it's got that much steam left.

How about an extended version in September or October, Universal?

So I am going to end up being wrong about the magnitude of Fantastic Four's drop. FF's Wednesday gross was $1.66M, which is only slightly higher than Ant-Man's third Wednesday take.

Given this weekend's competition, Fantastic Four is looking at a $6.5M - 7.25M weekend which I believe would give it the worst hold of all time for a superhero film. At least one based on Marvel/DC characters.

That means ~$41M after its second weekend. $60M isn't happening. $50M might be missed if the drops don't lighten up.

Yeah wow. 1983 was a pretty awful year for movies in general. RotJ and War Games are good, but the only movie I've seen of those that I'd consider great is Trading Places.
