Of course there's hierarchy. Even if you are gay, unless you are super obvious about it publicly, if you are white, people aren't gonna treat you like you are a fucking terrorist like muslims or shoot you outside your suburb home because a black man having a home at a "good" suburb seems impossible to some (obviously they are up to no good! can't be that a black man is successful in life and having a night walk in a "good" (read: majority white) neighborhood).Lol wtf? stop acting like there is a heirachy within minorities and POC top it. I could say you're part of the 'straight' majority. Ridiculous.
You just clearly lack any empathy towards POC and their issues regarding more visible representation in Hollywood/movie & tv industry and just can't understand why a latino or a black person would like to support movies that give them any kind of positive spotlight, because you don't have to go out of your way to see movies with white people, because every movie has them. Even the progressive/more equal ones are often, like, 75+% white with 1-3 token minority protagonists and maybe a few unimportant side/background characters thrown in there.
You could say that I'm a part of that majority, but that has no bearing to this argument or your incapability of giving a shit about representation in movies & TV. Like really giving a shit, not just being all "wouldn't that be cool"
Well, first of all, you read that post completely wrong. Someone said that latinos will likely make a noticeable portion of Ragnarok's viewer base and jett was just "I'm latino, what exactly would make Thor: Ragnarok so appealing to us?" Nowhere does Jett say he's not gonna see the movie because there are no latinos in it. Just questioned why someone would think latinos would come to see a white-ass movie like Thor: Ragnarok en masse because contrary to your thoughts, the minorities themselves do like to support positive representation when there is some and Ragnarok doesn't seem like the kind of movie that would pull those audiences in.And no that isn't the 'vibe' I got from him. It was "There are no latinos in this movie, why should I care". Fair if that's how he wants to play it, but it's stupid reasoning and you're gonna miss out on a lot of films with that outlook.
And again, I've already explained that it's not about "refusing to see movies with no latino actors" and more about "supporting movies that do positive & diverse representation" and there's nothing wrong or stupid about that. Nothing wrong with supporting entertainment endeavours that go for more diverse representation at the expense of ones that are still ignorant of the issues that POC, sexual minorities & women still face in their representation in the entertainment industry.
