Wolfenstein: The New Order |OT| They put Nazis on the Moon, Scheiß auf den Mond!

Just finished my Uber run earlier today. I'll start the
Wyatt timeline
and clean up later.

I love this game. The guns are fantastic and super satisfying to use. I'm a huge fan of the cover system. Easily my GOTY so far.

It's harder than you would expect it to be, yes. It requires abusing the tiered health regeneration pretty heavily. You can do it every new time you come to the hideout.

part where you get in to a missile and end up on a ship on something like that
how far i am from finishing the game? not really enjoying it and at least i want to finish it before selling it, thanks
 
Really happy with the performance I'm getting with my 2500k and 580gtx 3gb. 50-60 fps maxed out on 1080p. I'm surprised my somewhat aging system is doing this well with this game.

Anyway this game is pretty good so far. I think I'm still in the prologue but damn it feels good.

The game isn't exactly a looker technically speaking.
 
About half-way through and this game is fantastic. Thanks for the recommendation GAF. The shooting is fun, stealth is fun, going guns blazing is fun. It all just works and even though I tend to not notice the music in shooters much I have to say that the soundtrack is awesome and creates a ton of atmosphere.

Maybe I'm just giddy because I just finished the
Nautilus
level which was a blast.
 
Finally finished the game and it might be my GOTY so far(never thought Id say that about a Wolfenstein game). Felt like a throw back to old school shooters with the perfect pacing. Absolutely fantastic game.
 
Graphically, how do the last-gen versions hold up? The $39.99 price at GS is tempting since I have around $20-25 worth of trade-ins. Then again I could get XBL credit and get Crysis 3 and Trials Fusion for $25.

Framerate is rock solid 60 [dynamic resolution that maxes out at 720p], but visuals are of course downgraded [textures, amount of effects...]. It's perfectly playable.

Did anybody else miss some cutscenes on their first playthrough?

For example...

BJ cutting out the prison tattoo

Tekla watching BJ and Anya sleeping

Everyone missed all J or Tekla cutscenes depending on which person they sacrificed near the beginning of the game.

And if you didn't go into the bathroom in the asylum.

No, I know that! I've played through both timelines - it's just great when you stumble across a cutscene you missed.
 
I just shelled out on this game because of the amazing word of mouth it's been getting. I swear to God GAF this game better be good, I'm blaming all you guys if it sucks :P
 
I love this game! Why are there no real historical nazis in it though? Everybody wants to shoot hitler or kill goring's fat arse with a throwing knife. Or maybe it's just me?

From Patrick Klepek's excellent interview with Director Jens Matthies:

GB: Correct me if I’m wrong, but the game never comes out and explicitly says Hitler is still alive or not.

Matthies: We don’t want to introduce ingredients that doesn’t make the soup stronger if that makes sense. We don’t want to dilute the storyline. You’ll see references to the fuhrer and so forth if you explore the newspaper clippings and stuff, but we wanted to focus on the villains of this game. We didn’t want to introduce a lot of story or plotlines beyond that. We wanted to stay focused on what the game is about.

GB: The moment that you introduce Hitler, the game becomes all about Hitler.

Matthies: Exactly. Exactly. That’s a very succinct way of putting it.

If they had included Hitler in the game as a boss, I think it would have been funny since we then would have two games in one year where you can shoot him in the face (the other being that DLC for Sniper Elite V3).
 
Man. I'm really angry, I went to start a new game, I didn't know it would overwrite my whole profile and delete all my chapter markers.
 
Super stuck. Got some codes and crash landed. Have no health, in a corner with big baddies swarming me. Peaking out is death.

I know this might sound silly but try restarting the level (the whole chapter) and see if some more weapons are made available to you at the start.
 
All I know is that when I first did the level, I had no rockets, and then upon a restart I had rockets.

I think the checkpoint was like that on purpose. Eventually I got it, was supper annoying though. The last few chapters or acts are really cheesy with heavies and shrapnel and everything. I'm in the home stretch I believe.
 
Is anyone else experiencing corrupt saves and random crashing with this game? It seems to be only with this one game, but it's crashed and bombed out to the main menu screen 3 times since I started playing it (about 6 hours over 3 days ..)

Is this a known thing with Wolfenstein? Or the current Firmware? I didn't manage to grab the error code, but will next time

Happened just yersteday to me ( PS4 ). Finished the game. Started another via chapter select, when at the middle of chapter one, during gameplay the game jumped at the start screen by itself, with a message like "savegame corrupted, making a new one".
 
Beat it. I was going all about the last fight wrong. Use rockets, the LKW is great, but have to choose your charges tactically. When no clear shot is available toss a grenade or two.

Nice ending song..
 
Platinum-ed, my second one after Resogun. Relatively pain free since the game had a collectible tracker. Some of the secret areas were pretty cool. Time to sell the game and buy it again on PC during a Steam sale.
 
Quick question, picked it up and loving it btw.

Anywho I'm in a section where you escort the car, and ran across a door that opens from the other side, but I'm not seeing an entrance. So, how do i get in? Do I have to wait for another playthrough?

It might be an area where you have to have gone with the other timeline, though specifically I'm not sure which door you're talking about so I'm not 100% sure.
 
Yes, I have just managed to platinum the game (with a little help from the internet).

I'm really, really satisfied with this game. It hasn't delivered a mind-blowing experience in the sense of exploring something truly new, but it has something which way back in the Zzap 64 days would've just been rated as 'gameplay'. The game feels fantastic to play and it's that feel that drove me through 3 playthroughs and even now makes an Ironman playthrough quite tempting.

I'm not sure how Machinegames got it right, but the leaning system is a factor ( it's intuitive, versatile and easy to use) as are the ways weapons are implemented (dual-wielding, silenced weapons and the LKW each again offering that versatility) and I think most of all a focus on making every moment of the game itself as much straight-up fun as possible.

I think when you factor in the really quite marvellous story and cutscenes, you then get a game which is really, really special. It's the best game I've played on the PS4 and - coming back to FPSs after stopping playing them after the Doom / Duke 3D / Rise of the Triad days and then trying CoD - it takes all the good bits of CoD and dumps the stupidity and the disposability of the campaign and mixes it with the trust that the older FPSs had in the player.

So, yup, not sure if it will be my favourite game this year but it's really damn good.
 
Just beat the game. If I start a new game on a new difficulty will it overwrite my old save (and all the perks I've earned?) does this game even support multiple game saves?
 
Just beat it on uber. Last boss phase 1 of 2 was a pain. I know you have to shot him to get him to stop shooting you so that you can run to the cannons but for some reason he wouldn't stop shooting me, even after unloading an entire thing of the lazer into him, took me over a hour of retries to get past phase 1. Thank god I beat him after only 2 tries at phase 2, I would have had him on the first try if I didn't forget to set my duel guns to rockets -_-

Uhm.... You only need to take charged LKW and use ADS mode to instantly hit him with 10 beams. Boss instantly gets into recharge mode. I passed that phase of the bossfight in few minutes.
 
Weird, can't get rid of the screen tearing. In-game one doesn't do much, so I disabled that and enabled vsync in nvidia CP and that didn't do anything either (tried with and without triple buffering). Shame since I've got everything else up to the max settings I can get and the game seems to be running quite well otherwise.

Weird, I was able to force it through drivers just fine. Hopefully you can get it to work :/

Yeah, not sure if it's a framerate issue with the V Sync, as the game is running a bit under 60FPS for me (which is fine for me). I don't notice it as much in gameplay, but it's kind of a bummer for the cutscenes since they look so nice otherwise.

Oh well, still enjoying the game a ton (going through Chapter 4 now).
 
Damn, just completed the game. Bloody good.

Slightly predictable ending but it was still pretty damn awesome.


This might be a slightly unpopular opinion but I really, really wish this game had competitive multiplayer. The awesomeness of the gunplay deserves it.
