Just watched this movie and I really, really want to like it but it's not particularly good.
The Pitt/Clooney combo is 10/10, these guys still have amazing chemistry. Visually the movie is beautiful, it takes in snowy New York over the course of one night, there's a lot of neon in snow lighting, very atmospheric. It looks great.
The production values of this movie are amazing but unfortunately the story is kinda boring? Honestly 75% of this movie feels like they gave Clooney and Pritt some pointers and they're just improvising. Like "these are your lines but try and add some banter" and they were just winging it. The movie has at least 100 "I pretend I don't like you but secretly I kinda do" shots.
The movie tries to be smart but the "twists" are just okay, I guess? It's a comedy-thriller but doesn't really commit to either, I guess. Hard to pinpoint what is "wrong" with it. The stakes are kinda low which is not bad per se but in this case they're so low I just struggle to care about anything. So some dude we don't know double-crossed someone else we don't know, big deal?
Anyway, 6/10. It's perfect background material. This movie shines when it does slapstick humor, the comedic timing of Clooney and Pritt is god-tier.
