I didn't have this problem with my previous monitor, but with the last 2 monitors I've tried, the colors are *really* *really* dark, even after manipulating the monitor brightness/contrast controls. The Radeon Software color options don't last very long, nor get the colors as they should be, even after careful tweaking.

Is this a known issue that has a fix or is something just weird?

Sorry to be barching in on your thread like this but I also have a Radeon card problem.

Problem is that I have a lot of artifacts in most games, and I haven't overclocked my computer or anything, I also have good air flow. Do I have the right to another card? I mean, when I buy a thing it's expected that it's supposed to work out of the box, right? It's a Powercolor Radeon 9800 Pro btw, I heard they have poor cooling fans, and that's probably the reason to this. I just need some legal mumbo jumbo before I call the reseller.

Make sure Fast Writes are disabled in the bios and that the fan is indeed working. If that doesnt fix it, I would rma it as soon as possible. Dont try and change the fan or add memory heatsinks because that would void your warranty.

I get weird transparency related artefacts on my radeon too. They resemble a checkerboard :/

I was getting artifacts on my 9700 PRO in TRON 2.0 however turning off fast writes made everything go away. If all else fails. rma ASAP.

Tre, isn't there some sort of gamma adjustment program in the control panel you could mess with?

Mana: That's what I meant by the radeon color calibration blah blah.

However, I just downloaded power strip and calibrated the colors, so everything is ok for now.
