Going to start working out tomorrow and in general losing weight as well at a nearby gym. I've read all the threads here and worked out in the past so I have a routine, but I really need some new music to workout to. Preferably something really energetic, but genres could be techno, rock, whatever has a good beat and is good to workout to. Bonus if it's available to sample (and download) off the iTunes music store. Suggestions welcome. :)

AMERICA FUCK YEAH (the song)

1 pound lost is 1 terrorist defeated! Keep that in mind and your workout will be AWESOME

Just start screaming out loud, "PUSHUPS! FUCK YEAH! WEIGHTS! FUCK YEAH! LAPS! FUCK YEAH! STAIRMASTER! FUCK YEAH!" and continue with anything training related

SF2 soundtrack.

Godflesh - 'Pure' (Raw, crushing grindcore)
Techno Animal - 'Brotherhood of the Bomb' (Abstracted Hip-Hop beats mixed with dub, a lot of noise and freaked out sound tweaking. Features a lot of MCs, some from the Def-Jux camp)
Alec Empire - 'Squeeze the Trigger' (Rough as nails hip-hop tinged drum'n bass breaks from the master)

Hard, agressive rocktronica. Sonic Mayhem is great.

I am doing my cardio workout while listening to the Rez or GITS (PS1) OST ... it's quite a kick. Techno or something with a steady rhythm is helping a lot.

How can you work out to Oval? I can hardly even listen to Oval.

Says the guy who posted SIGUR FUCKING ROS in a workout music thread.

BTW, there are plenty of other artists on that soundtrack who AREN'T Oval.

They get a lot of hate on here, but AFI's "Shut Your Mouth & Open Your Eyes" and "Black Sails in the Sunset" are both awesome for working out. Especially for cardio.

You wanna feel like you can run a mile, just get this soundtrack:

Seriously, c'mon, the songs will pump you up like nothing else. Listen to gonna fly now or eye of the tiger, and try not to run up stairs.

I am not "using" every track, but most are doing a good job. Nevertheless, I like Oval a lot ... fan since 1994.

I've also tried Drum'n'Bass, almost fell off the treadmill once or twice because of it ^-^;

POWER METAL!

Hammerfall's Stronger Than All and Raise the Hammer are both good.

It just gets my blood pumping.

The Wipeout XL soundtrack still gets some feeling from me, but it's not suitable for pushing myself beyond the distance. It's more biking music.

Look, why even bother if you're not going to listen to Van Halen

You don't happen to live in the apartment next to me, do you? In the morning, at night, and all weekend long this guy has Van Halen cranked. It's all he ever listens to, and in turn, all I get to listen to.

If it's not David Lee Roth era Van Halen, I suggest you call the cops. Or just do the honors with a wrecking ball yourself. ;)

4 songs usually in my playlist are

Fuckin in the bushes - Oasis
Born too slow - Crystal Method
Green Hornet - Kill Bill 1 OST
Asleep now in the fire - Rage (just about anything off of Battle of Los Angeles will do)

^knows where it's at. Only I would have had all 4.

I like all the albums but to my ears LA is the funkiest of the bunch and funk goes a long way in making a good workout mix.

Also wanted to add Rock n Roll - The Sounds

Rocky, Rambo, and a little bit of Commando. I find that if you are into wrestling, some themes do it too....like Real American. Woo!

It's not me, so feel free to go next door and dispose of him. That way you can swipe his Van Halen albums and have a high intensity workout!!~

Before I lost all my mp3's, I used to have these songs in my "exercise" playlist, among others:

"Breathe", Prodigy

"War" (instrumental), Rocky 4 soundtrack

"Eye of the Tiger", Rocky 3 soundtrack

"Dangerous", Busta Rhymes

"You Can't Deny It", Fabolous

"Changes", Tupac

"Aerials", System of a Down

"Poem", Taproot

"Who's the Man?" and "Jump Around", House of Pain

"Otherside", Red Hot Chili Peppers

Plus some others I forget now...
