Would a Napoleonic era work for COD?

Yes yes crazy idea. But they already tried countless time WW2, Cold War, Modern Warfare, Futuristic War. Battlefield worked at WW1, so why not?

Gonna be hard to sell Beavis and Butthead skins if they set it in that era

Messing with the past for cases where a bad guy/good guy side is not easily recognizable, specially at this day and age, is poking a hornet's nest.

Mount & Blade Warband and Bannerlord have a huge amount of mods and official dlc set in the 1800s, 1700s and 1600s that you might wanna check out to get your standing in a line and firing guns fix :]

Warband might be a bit dated for you, and I haven't really touched Bannerlord for ages and never got super into it anyway, but this was the first Bannerlord mod video with a bigass battle that I could find. This mod seems to have both single and multiplayer.

and then this mod, L'Aigle, was one of my favourites. Like I said though, kinda old and janky.

I think the problem with doing it in COD is COD match sizes are tiny. It kinda works in WWII and forward because you can just imagine that you're a small squad in a much larger battle, but I don't think Napoleonic warfare was really like that. It was about coordinated actions with hundreds if not thousands of other soldiers, so without a massive rework of the COD engine to allow for a huge number of bots and players, it just wouldn't feel even slightly real imo

This isn't the CoD of 2006 anymore. CoD 2 had narrated military footage in between missions to give you historical context. Now it is just slop.

Napoleonic wars were fought with line infantry. It would be a challenge to adapt that into the cod formula. But I would play it.
