Ok, long story short, I own the Back To The Future Trilogy, Full Screen Edition.

I'd rather have the Widescreen Edition, and for whatever reason, the Full Screen Edition never got returned and now it's too late to return it (And I've watched it a few times).

Would it be wrong for me to go out and buy the Widescreen Edition, take the discs for myself, put the Full Screen discs in the box and return it to the store?

Would they be able to tell? Would this make me a bad person?

well not really...yet
Hmm well, Universal are re-releasing the BTTF trilogy set next year, the original had fucked up aspect ratios for the widescreen set, the re-release is fixing that.

So you should wait. As for your little idea....I guess it depends which store ;)

I thought they fixed the aspect ratio problem and you just had to send in for it if you had an older copy?

To Mig, I'll have to say there was something wrong with the DVD.....

if its opened and you say there is something wrong with it, they wil probably just give you another set instead of a refund.

Couldn't they give me credit? Or I could just not open the new set they give me and then return it later?

Is it wrong? Yes.

Does it make you a bad person? I dunno if I would go that far.

But good luck with returning the set. You'll probably end up with two widescreen sets. If the clerks do their job properly they'll tear open the shrink wrap on the set you are exchaning for before you leave the store.

Well if there really is a re-release coming out, I guess I'll just sell my copies :(

If not, then I guess I'll try my luck with the store, though it'd suck if they rip open the shrinkwrap and sabotage my whole operation. Then I'd be another 30$ in the hole :(

Damn that is really cheap.

I don't have the DVD set I'm jumping on this.

Wait, maybe not. I just read this:

The collection will apparently be placed on moratorium after that date, presumably paving the way for another collection to be issued later in the year to commemorate the series' 20th Anniversary. While no official word has yet to have been given in regards to a new collection, Universal representatives outside the U.S. have reportedly been hinting to international fans that a special edition for the first Back to the Future film is being planned for release sometime during the second half of 2005.

Ugh, what else are they going to pack in? Aren't the BTTF box sets already special editions with remastered footage?

Damn, they're planning Special Editions for the movies at the end of the year as well?

I guess I'll just hold onto my movies for now then....
