i dont really like war themed games, not just because of the war theme tho, just that none have interested me, i didnt like battlefield 2 or any medal of honour game. well i liked the very first one back in the day but thats about it. but i hear a LOT of people saying its probably the best 360 launch game. would i still enjoy it even with these "obstacles"? like i said its not the war theme i dont like, its that personally tbh i havent thought any of them were any fun.
but im thinking about picking this one up because of all the praise. anyone not like these kind of games but enjoy COD2?

Eh. I doubt you'd enjoy it then. I once described CoD2 here as what all those Medal of Honors should've been, but it's not like it's vastly different from the other WWII shooters. It's just better. (Much better, actually.)

Its a lot of shooting from cover, and moving on to the next area to get an objective (thats how I understood it)

You might be better off with PD0

I love it. I haven't played many WWII games, but this one is great. Ignore the theme - just the whole 'chaos' going on, and the feeling you are involved in a bigger story is a big thing for me

I'm a lot like you actually. I played the first Medal of Honor but didn't play any of the subsequent WW2 games. For some reason, they just didn't interest me. That being said, I decided to pick COD2 up at launch after playing it at the 360 press event. Aside from PGR, it's my favorite of the launch titles. The atmosphere of the game is just fantastic. In my opinion, they've only recently been able to do justice to the WW2 experience both visually and audibly. COD2 is the perfect example of this.

awesome, how is the music? and sound in general? and also, does the framerate every drop below 60?

One question:

Will you be playing online with it?

no. thats another thing. i dont like online gaming much. only some games like MK DS and top spin. generally i dont liek fps online. so no, i wont, im mainly single player :)

SP-wise, you wont regret it. By the second mission, I was completely hooked. 10X better too if youve got a nice surround sound setup. Such an immersive title.

CoD 2 is an awesome game but its a rental. I beat it in 3 days, not sure exactly how many hours. The multiplayer is garbage, not even a co-op mode. If your looking to buy an FPS PDZ is the better choice.

Then I highly recommend this title.

Good choice my man. My favorite FPS since Riddick. Yes, I enjoyed Riddick more than Halo 2 and Half-Life 2.

I love war history, but I'm not big on war-themed games, either. However, COD (the first one) was one of the best single-player experiences I had on the PC. I always refer to this game as my favorite FPS, and I'm not big on those, either. I can't speak to COD2, but from everything I've read about it, it captures the same feel and fully immersive atmosphere of the first game. I mean, the first one was nail-biting at times, and you just felt like you were actually there. Great scripting, environments, and some of the most amazing sound design you'll ever hear, too. BF2 is a completely different type of gameplay experience, and I think this trounces the MOH games, although I really thought MOHAA was it at the time. They have this at most X360 kiosks in stores, so give it a quick whirl to see if you dig the controls, look, etc. (although the purist in me would say to experience the game for the first time at home :))

Ummm...no.
CoD 2 is fun in multiplayer(PC), but single player is just like every other war themed game ever. If you dont like the other games, you wont like this one.

Battlefield 2 is a very different fps from COD. Its multiplayer based and has nothing in common with single player war based fps games. COD2 is just another war fps. It looks prettier than any other but gameplay wise its nothing special so i doubt you will like it if you didnt war fps before. Its decent but nothing special IMO.

I haven't played other WW2 shooters, but Call of Duty was an amazing experience. Play through the whole thing on Veteran - it will take a long time, but there are only a couple points where I felt the game was being cheap or the checkpoint and difficulty balance were off. I've only played one multiplayer game, but the single player experience is the best one I've had in a console FPS by far (and I loved Halo 1's single player).

I haven't played too much COD2 yet, but so far i think this might be my favorite single player experience on xbox360 so far. The game does a good job of making things feel very intense with the amount of action going on around. I recommend at least making this a rental.

I'm also impressed that they managed to somehow make smoke grenades actually useful in a video game.
