would you like to have a windows-like OS for next gen ?

More complications means more bugs and confusion.
Consoles don't include mice and rely on simple interfaces.
Having a menu with many options is nice but I don't need complex filestructres or the like.
The GameCube one is very nice with the white noise and soft sounds. Make the cube go all the way around and put a media player on the backside and you have the nicest interface around.

I have come to the conclusion that many people just want their consoles to be like PCs, yet many of the same people have some sort of stigma that says they are not allowed to actually play PC games.

I don't even want it running my fucking computer, but the $1,000+ it'd run me to get a new Adobe CS license is kinda keeping me tethered.

Um. He said windows-like. I'll put you down as a no.

And... no.

Well if it doesn't work like Windows... then maybe...

OS X on a ps3 would rock.

Agreed. OS X would be a much nicer interface for any console.

Honestly though, stuff like OS X and Windows is far too complex for console. They don't need anything more than something like XMB or their current setups. They work very well.

No, I love the simplicity. But's it's not like we have much choice in the matter--I'm sure it will happen at some point.

This requires significant clarification. Do you mean a platform that can run arbitrary code, provides a windowing library for allowing multiple applications to run at the same time, provides a runtime environment that extends beyond game functionality?
