Zemo was the best villain in a recent comic book flick. Breath of fresh air for sure.
Like most recent superhero films, it threw way too much shit at the screen. I don't know that the story was or why I was supposed to care about what was happening. Non-comic fans want a good story first and foremost, that's why they liked X2, TDK, Spider-Man 2 etc. They told stories that always came back to the humanity of the main characters, stories that the general audience could relate to, the stakes never left the audience behind.
Nowadays they jam in as many characters as they can and call it a day. Movies like BvS, Apocalypse, Suicide Squad, Age of Ultron, they have no story and are just a series of stupid events that culminate in some dumb CGI ending with a hundred different heroes that nobody cares about. They can be entertaining on a purely visual level but I never feel any tension or emotion, quips and action set-pieces have replaced actual character work.
The movie was really cheesy but I enjoyed it for that. Laughed more than I'm sure they were intending
I liked it as well!!!I enjoyed it, mostly :>
Charles was so adorable with Moira, and Quicksilver killed it.And that Phoenix power thingy looked really Phoenixlike, at the end.
Why don't we have a quicksilver film instead of fucking Channing Tatum gambit. The only thing that sticks out in my mind is the quicksilver bits. By far the best part of the film.
the x-men films in general feel so irrelevant at the moment. apocalypse's box office reflected that.
did you know there's a new wolverine movie coming in less than a year?
Why don't we have a quicksilver film instead of fucking Channing Tatum gambit.
That's not stopping Gambit from getting made.I don't think Quicksilver's quirky charm can be sustained for a while film. Quicksilver v Apocalypse was pretty sweet though.

Problem is, while his isolated scenes are impressive as anything, I don't think they'd actually be able to carry an entire film on his own. He's either too unstoppable with his borderline effortless power, or they have to avoid action scenes for the most part. He kinda works better as the nuclear option, even if that does mean they write scenes specifically for him, like the mansion or being the only person to be able to do anything to apocalypse (well, and phoenix jean)
Not that I think Gambit could carry a film either.
I was just thinking back on this summer's movies and realized "oh yeah, I saw that X-Men movie too."
I can't remember a damn thing about that movie.
It's getting ridiculous how much Xavier has forgiven Magneto for. I mean they act all happy at the end even though he destroyed things all over the world. Probably killed thousands.
How are those redeeming qualities. It wasn't a very good film, but it had some redeeming qualities - Psylocke looked cool, Magneto had a less worse costume than the previous film, there was less of a focus on Jennifer Lawrence than the last 2 or 3 films.
God, she really fucked these last few movies up.
I haven't seen Apoc yet, it didn't make any sense to me why Xavier let Magneto go at the end of DOFP after he brought a stadium crashing down, unleashed Sentinels on a bunch of people, and tried to kill the president.
At least Enchantress knew her sidekick. Apocalypse chose the strongest 4 mutants from the first 4 mutants he met.
Suicide Squad>>>>>X men Apocalypse. Shitty version of Apocalypse and the only good part of that movie was Fassbender. Pretty much all the performance were bad outside of Quicksilver and nothing notable happened, equally as bad CGI fest ending. At least Suicide Squad had Margot Robbie, Will Smith and Viola Davis.
It grossed over half a billion.... hardly irrelevant.
I had fun with Suicide Squad and enjoyed seeing the actors on screen. Can't say the same for Apocalypse. But hey that's just me.Nah, Suicide Squad was worse. Neither are good movies at all though.
Can we have an actual Magneto vs X-Men fight for once
