Several years have passed since the Burning Legion's defeat at Mount Hyjal and the races of Azeroth have continued to rebuild their once shattered lives. With renewed strength, the heroes of the Horde and Alliance have begun to explore new lands and broken through the Dark Portal to investigate the realms beyond the known world. Will these heroes find friends or foes? What dangers and rewards lie in wait beyond the Dark Portal? And what will they do when they discover that the demons they thought vanquished have returned to renew their terrible Burning Crusade?
World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade is the exciting new expansion to Blizzard's award-winning massively multiplayer online role-playing game. It expands the game by tremendous bounds, adding new races, lands, Battlegrounds, professions and items, and more. Here is just a partial list of what you can expect from the World of Warcraft expansion:
An increase in the level cap to 70
Two new playable races, including the magical Blood Elves
New starting zones in Quel'Thalas and beyond
The entire new continent of Outland, reachable through the
Dark Portal
Many new high-level dungeons to explore in Azeroth,
Outland, and elsewhere
New flying mounts in Outland
Many new and dangerous monsters, including epic world
bosses
Hundreds of new quests
Hundreds of new items
A new profession: Jewelcrafting
Socketed items
And much, much more...

It looks awesome.

EDIT: They confirm Blood Elves as the new horde race, but have a large ? for the new Alliance race still.

All right then, Blood Elves and lvl 70 confirmed.

What's the deal with jewelcrafting, though? Isn't it awfully close to enchating?

No, play Diablo 2. It is more like that.

jewelcrafting is on top of enchanting.. plus you can have more than one slot on a piece..

so a 5 slot sword can have 6 "enchantments" on it total. 1 "normal" enchantment and 5 gems.

I've heard it will be similar to weaponsmith in a way, in that players will be able to craft the ring/trinket holders, and then use mining to gather gems/stones for placement in the holders.

I take it we'll know the other playable race by the end of the weekend?

God, I love WOW. I wish its player base didn't suck so damn much. :(

So how does this work? There are going to be new servers that are expansion pack servers? I guess you'll be able to transfer your existing high level characters to some of these new ones?

One Blizzard addiction at a time!

I suppose only the new expansion items will have sockets?
I need to know more!

That makes sense.

is it pathethic that i'm going to resubscribe just for SOCKETED FUCKING ITEMS?!(@

god i hate blizzard seriously.

I'm hoping Blood Elves aren't allowed to be hunters - 3 Horde races are already able to be hunters and the WoW population certainly doesn't need more elf hunters. Warrior, mage, warlock, and perhaps priest or rogue would be good.

blood elves + mini-titans is what im hearing

also possibly blood elves can be paladins and minis can be shaman

oh.. and....

I guess this explains why WoW is now the most successful MMORPG of all time. They might as well be selling crack.. At least that's less addictive.

???

Blood Elves are Horde, no longer Alliance. They can't be Paladins.

Someone tell this noob what Socketed Items are... I have a feeling but I'm not completely sure I'm right.

In any case... looks wonderful. I've heard rumors of May 2006... I think that may be too soon. Kudos if it is tho.

tre, i quit the game a couple weeks ago, what server are you on these days? I'll reactivate my account if they have server transfers, and can get back on a server with some GAF peeps.

My wife already doesn't spend any time doing anything else but playing this fucking game. I don't need a god damn expansion pack coming out for it!

So do socketed items work like materia? Attach themselves to weapons?

We don't know the specifics.

Probably, the question is, will they make it permenant?

"Probably, the question is, will they make it permenant?"

That's a fantastic question. It's been awhile since I played Diablo, but wasn't there a merchant who could take your gems out, or is that just something that was in FATE?

Oh, and some great art on that site!

Awesome. I´m sure I will create a Blood Elve for pure lonewolf action. My actual character, a warlock forsaken, was intended for that but I gott involved in a guild that is being pretty fun (I´m in a RP server, is really nice when you are around people that want to play the same way than you).

I had the secret hope that they would include new classes, even if I knew it was impossible... that gossip about "spellbreaker" sound awesome.

The last days I´m having a blast in Desolace, the world building of this game is absolutely awesome, there is a true sense of wonder in all scenarios. I had my first experience enslaving a demon and was really fun. Hope I can get near to 60 before the expansions comes to Europe.

So the level 70 raise is for everyone right, not just those who get the expansion?

It sounds like that is the case, though it'll probably be a nightmare trying to level to 70 w/o the aid of the new zones. I'm sure that's Blizzard's plan at least.

Bah.. Fuck.. I want to play this game so badly but... I just can't. The game is too addicting and time consuming for Univ. student :/
