Wow... This is Hot! (XBMC related)

Any way to get a download progress meter for those movie trailers? I have to pause it and wait a few minutes so I can watch them smoothly

I do not understand what you mean. Is your buffer too small causing it to skip? If that is the case, goto XBMC settings and increase the buffer size on streams,

Yeah, it plays, stops, plays, stops....cause of my connection. I'm viewing them in high quality, can't stand the other qualities. I'll try that

At least in QT for me on PCs, it'll wait till it's half way downloaded, then view the trailer so it doesnt skip

Gettin alot of problems with latest build, how can i make sure none of the previous settings/stuff are being caried over to the new build?

how come when i click on movie trailers and web radio nothing happens?

its connecting to the internet just fine because i get weather updates and im getting the rss news feed but for some reason when i click either trailers or radio nothing happens at all.

You need to update the scripts.

Quicktime Movies.

You might also need new codecs:
just download the qt65dlls from http://www1.mplayerhq.hu/MPlayer/releases/codecs/
an put it into /mplayer/codecs/ on your box.

WebRadio 2

Just put the Scripts in the Scripts dir, overwiting the old ones. You might need to rename AQT3 to AQT if you want the link on the menu to work.

apparently there's a new pixel shader out that makes videos look HOT.

Unfortunately, you can only use it with a CVS from 1-10 or later, and there's nothing on the FTP from then.

Do you have any more info ?

Thanks for the heads up.

I fucked around and broke the swith on my XBOX and now it only boots retail games. No dash or anything. Get error 13.

I thought my soldering skills were on point, but I guess not.

*plugs in iron*

:lol

i got another minor problem for you guys...

i cant get the web radio thing to play but i'll try and solve that one on my own.

i got quicktime script to run, got the background its all nice and pretty looking. i click on a movie and its "retrieving" then its "opening audio codec" and then nothing happens, no video shows at all. i got the new codecs and installed them from society's post.

ok i got it, it was a missing codec...

question for you guys. can you stream ANY xbe from xbmc? i can stream music and videos no problem from my comp but im wondering if its possible to stream programs and homebrews too?

The more you dig and play around with XBMC the more goodness you find. I have a question. How can I get GamingFM.com to play through XBMC? I can't seem to figure it out. Streaming and Shoucast are new concepts to me. I usaully just go to GamingFM.com and click the link on my PC and Winamp takes over. Can anyone help me out?

I'd also like a resource on detailed info on this webserver use of XBMC. I'm not reallyl up to speed on the subject. I need to add this to my list of feats and skills. ;)

Apple's site should be on there already.

There are more python scripts here. http://dwl.xboxmediacenter.de/

Edit: Thanks Wario! I have not checked in awhile. They have gametrailers.com now!

Yeah, I freaked about a month ago when I was wathcing movie trailers through XBMC. I didn't know about Gametrailers.com.....man I need to play around with this app more!

OH MY GOD!! I have been in the dark on this stuff for way too long. I just got through talikng to a pal and he told me about the media library function in Winamp.....I had no freaking idea. It's like when man first discovered fire. Now I just need to figure out how to get all this through XBMC....I am stunned that I've been sitting on this all this time. I've only been using Winamp to play MP3, and I haven't even scratched the surface of XBMC. I am humbled.....

ok to gamingfm.com, and click the link at the top for either the 128K stream, or the 24k stream. When you go to the next page, it should pop up a box asking if you want to open the file or save it. Save it to your desktop or some other folder. Now just FTP it over you your Xbox, and you'll be able to play it from My Music

As far as I knew, you can't stream programs over the network. Maybe they've changed it since I last looked, but they had some reason for not being able to do it.

the videos from apple trailers and game trailers where do they save on the xbox hdd? im on limited space i wanna be able to delete them.

how the heck do you stop a web radio stream?

So basically, I just put the scripts in the XBMC folder and and it works? What exactly is there to do?

Joe: I'm not sure where they're saved. I think they're saved in your cache or something, as I've never noticed a problem with space after watching them (I've got a gig free on my stock HDD).

Agent Icebreezy: the python scripts don't work if you don't have python installed. I don't know what build you have, so I have no way of knowing if you've got it installed already.

The latest build I have on my Xbox is the 11-14-2004 build. Should I get a newer one? If so, which one do you suggest. Regular or CVS?

After the 1.1.0 Point Release of XBMC all release are compiled directly from daily/weekly CVS.

Joe: It probably uses one of the temp partitions to store while your watching it. X: , Y: , Z:

It's very simple.

1. Go to your network settings in XBMC and enable the webserver option.

2. Go to any computer on your home network

3. Open up a web browser and type http://192.168.*.*** (your XBOX IP)

This will then pop up:

That's as detailed as it gets. It's simple. Takes less than 2 minutes.

The regular releases on the XBMC FTP site are the stable "official" releases. The CVS builds are basically WIP releases that have incrimental bug fixes and sometimes new features, though along with the newness, additional bugs and broken features.

I'm using a 1-09-2005 build because one of the new features added is a front LED dimmer that automatically kicks in when you watch movies. Very nice if you don't like that huge LED constantly on when you're watching something in a dark room.

Kool, im gonna try the version that runs the engine on a Linksys Router. I tried it from the pc and Halo 2 on System Link was pretty cool. Lots of games to play on and plenty of people playing.

Any of u guys tried XLink Kai for online play through XBMC?

It is a very solid build. If you backed up your games to HDD, it can launch the game for you when you hit join or host.

I have the 1-9-2005 build now, putting it on the Xbox currently

Just a heads up. The 1-14-2005 CVS build is on the newsgroups. It has the new overlay that supposedly bumps up the video quality to XBMP standards.

Good, I noticed my Divx playback started sucking again

Anyone else having problems getting the overlay modes working? The video looks jacked up when I use them but looks fine when I use the Pixel Shader render.

Edit:

Well, got it working but it only seems to work with .avi files and nothing else. Most of my stuff is .ogm so I'm SOL it would seem. Kinda buggy anyway, I've gotten a few lockups using the overlay.

Yeah.

I set mine to play video at whatever res XBMC is running at... 720p or 1080i.

new update

XboxMediaCenter (XBMC) 2005-01-15 CVS build
>> A new CVS compile of XboxMediaCenter(info) has been released.
Changelog (since 2005-01-02 build):
ADDED
* [ 1097753 ] Updated XBMC masterlock/share lock code (Thanks to slacker)
* Third rendering method using overlays. Added purely to help find the reason behind the quality improvements gained from the previous overlay method. This new method is identical to the previous overlays method, except it uses mplayers builtin YV12->YUY2 fast convertor.
Further info will be available later today in this thread. NB: This output looks identical to my eyes as the output from the pixel shader.
* Second rendering method using overlays. Renderers can be switched from the GUI (Video Settings->Filters). Known Issues:
-1080i may not be 100% in terms of Aspect ratio - it hasn't been tested
-Renderers cannot be switched on the fly - change will take effect at next movie play.
-Overlays method is much slower than the pixel shader method - reason is mostly to do with the software YV12->YUY2 conversion done by mplayer.

FIXED
* Album thumbs don't show as icon for folder in listview
* [ 1039490 ] Fan speed reset to full speed on exit on 1.6 Xbox
* LPCM audio from ex. Music Video DVD's would only create static.
* Button scroller issues on homepage.
* [ 1059668 ] OSD and scene skip bug.
* Slideshow info shows part of directory instead of filename in osd
* subtitles wouldn't display if on CD/DVD
* fullscreen video view mode info, soften setting for video was not displayed
* Pathes in progress dialog where not correctly shortened
* scanning smb shares the second time doesn't show the add/rescan dialog
* audio skips once on startup of videos
* fixed [ 1090730 ] Playback Of MP3 Files With @
* playlist windows, current playing item disappears after using the context menu in it
* thumb cache was not cleared
* music playlist, all cue items show the tag info of the first file
* filemanager, lock mode wasn't updated in both panes
* filemanager, "Please insert disc" message on local shares
* [ 1088812 ] Onscreen Keyboard fails when editing shares.
* [ 1094724 ] Fan speed display bug
* IMDb didn't filter HTML codes if a single match was found.
* Texel alignment in video playback.
* default.tbn sometimes did not get generated in proper directory.

* [ 1092849 ] Cancel saving profile freezes the xbox
* [ 1092854 ] Music slide/shutdown menu freeze
* play a song in a folder, goto videos, start a movie, when movie ends the songs is played again

CHANGED:
* extended asx parsing to support entryref tags and different tag-casing
* Webserver authentication now defaults to BASIC instead of DIGEST. Solves Firefox issues.
* minor GUIThumbnailPanel performance tweaks
* video/music info, smoother update of icons after getting information
* minor GUIListControl performance tweaks
* minor guiImage & xprfont performance tweaks
* Removed TITLE mapping to playlist view in My Music and My Videos - it's on the context menu anyway.
* cdrip encoders moved into dll's, this should result in a smaller executable and a bit faster cd ripping (don't forget to copy the new system folder!)
* New pixel shader output does YV12->RGB in one pass (using Butcher's old code).
* modal dialogs are completely rendered by the window manager now
* my music, background scanner can be canceled during its first operations

UPDATED
* Finnish, Norwegian, Greek, Chinese (Traditional), Chinese (Simple), Spanish, Italian, Polish language file
* sqlitedataset to 0.60 (now in namespace dbiplus)

REMOVED
* guide mapping from MCE remote in keymap.xml - was an unnecessary double up.
