Those names are the names of the teams, not the name you pick for yourself.
 
i've won a couple of times over the CPU with the exact same time with Team Auricom. Considering the cheapness of the CPU on Phantom, i considered it karma. :)
 
It probably goes down to the next unrounded subset of time (which isn't actually displayed) and the CPU was probably just the tiniest of fractions faster than you.

Yeah, it either is more precise than displayed or it has a set way of determining ties.

In Mario Kart, the human player will always go above the computer player.

Right, but the clock that Wipeout uses should not care about the infinitely divisible aspect of time. If it did, then it should add more digits after the decimals.
