WWE 2K15 First Footage and Gameplay changes

Even their own games have gotten worse over the years. It's pretty embarassing. I'm going to hold out hope that they dump Yuke's after this game.

I made this back when it was first announced that Visual Concepts would be assisting with 2K15. I get the feeling it's gonna get used for many years to come

There needs to be comparison gifs of the Rock Bottom from before Predator Technology and mocapping and after. It's even worse than the People's Elbow.

Look at the way he barely jumps over Cena, and then look at the way he majestically jumps over Booker T.

That pretty much sums up the Rock in 2014. I honestly cant' believe something as small as how high he jumps really matters in a wrestling game?

Damn it 2K. Fire Yukes.

Oh please, please, please have a new 2K wrestling engine that you've been working on in some skunkworks studio. Please.

Really I'm holding out faith that they only kept them this year to get a game out this year(I think it is a requirement of the WWE license to have yearly releases) and next year they will have their own studio make the game. Yukes is just bad bad bad.

Should have known what was coming when they held back on showing gameplay for so long. Sure, the wrestler models look amazing, but I don't care how lifelike Cena's pecs look when the overall game is barely a step up from what we got last year. I mean, look at the way the weapon hits STILL don't connect with your opponent. Graphical quality aside, this does not look like a new-gen game. How many more years can Yukes get away with producing the same old shit with a fresh coat of paint slapped on top?

I always thought the AKI Rock Bottom was terrible. The middle one is easily the best. Huge impact, smooth animation, little Hollywood Rock taunt after the move. Really nice.

Compare Sweet Chin Music, Stunners, Pedigrees, 5* Frog Splash, Eddies Frog Splash and Goldbergs Spear.........than get depressed

You want depression? Compare chokeslams. Pre-predator technology chokeslams were a thing of beauty until around SVR 2011, when they became over animated and shitty

I can't believe how many posters like you might be suffering from Battered Wife Syndrome.

Actually I love the gameplay in Firepro wrestling returns and the games before it. My point here is why did people really expect the gameplay was going to change when Yukes was still involved?

Probably because every year gaming media says how different the game is and how it has finally improved all the complaints that people have had for years...and then the game comes out exactly the same as the last 5 years. And those people want to believe the game will be better. Then 2K takes over and you'd think they'd try to bring it up to the NBA level, but they made the same game. And it looks like the same game again this year, despite more promises.

But if you want to play an up to date wrestling game, there is no other option. The last Fire Pro game was in 2005 (translated in 2007, but the same game) and the last KoC game was in 2004. There were the Wrestle Kingdom Games, which are also now 7 years old.

My point is that there are options if people are this crazy over how the animations/gameplay looks in wwe 2k15. Fire pro has updated rosters available from the community and no other wrestling game can touch it in the gameplay or authenticity department.

I have bought the last 2 WWE games and will be buying this one for the story modes. I loved the last 2 and HHH, HBK (see my user name), and CM Punk are 3 of my favorite guys that have wrestled or are wrestling in WWE. I will happily hand over $60 for the story mode around HHH and HBK's rilvary in 2002 alone.

Why would you want to subject yourself to play through the story mode? Just wait till someone uploads it to YouTube if you want to see all the cutscenes.

You can update the rosters with caws, but you can't add new moves, new looks that aren't available in the base game, and you can't use created guys in the match maker mode. It's not the same. It's also cartoony 2D wrestling and not 3D wrestling that I think most people are looking for.

That's what they are doing here. Or so they claim. The IGN article mentions that as the match goes on you will notice punch and kick animations changing, every move will seem more laboured.
Right but those are basic strikes, not signature/special moves, or top rope moves even.

Also the stamina feature isn't even new. It was used in the first one or 2 SvR branded games and if your stamina got too low, your punches would be slow lobs, you wouldn't be able to hit moves, and you'd fall or stop and bend over if you tried to run.

True but it was largely linear and they quickly abandoned it IIRC.

Do you really enjoy going through the poorly implemented challenges just to finish each match?

Unlike most here I accept the gameplay for what it is in the WWE Yukes games and don't go insane every year. It's not great like Firepro but its far from the crap you make it out to be.

I still remember HCTP Goldberg's ↓+X kick sounding like a bomb going off every time. These WWE series, every move sounds as powerful as dropping a remote on a couch.

I don't even understand what that means. Of course stamina is linear in a video game. In the one or two games it was in, your stamina would decrease quicker the longer the match went. Yukes has been terrible about making a big deal of added features and then removing them by the next game.

The old stamina system sucked. Every wrestler from high flyers to big guys had the same stamina, and you always had to stop to hold the select button or else your guy would crumble to the floor

You're not alone... I would buy my first wrestling game in years if it focused on any HBK storyline.

Good to meet a fellow HBK fan! :) Wrestling just hasn't been the same since Shawn retired. Once guys like HHH, Jericho, and Daniel Bryan are gone I am pretty much done with wrestling. I probably watch 20 minutes of RAW each week and fast forward through anything not involving the talent listed above.

The graphics are pretty damn good. So that's a nice.

But the slow clunky horrible gameplay mechanics/animations are horrible. It looks straight up boring to play.

- Fully customisable match options. I want to do a six man Last Man Standing match with eliminations? I can do it. I want to do a TLC match inside Hell In A Cell? I can do it. I want to a steel cage match which involves five people with only a single pinfall? I can do it. It should be fully customisable.

Your basic match options: 1 vs. 1, Triple Threat, Fatal Four Way, Five Way, Six Way, Seven Way, Eight Way, 2 vs. 2 (Tag, Tornado), 3 vs. 3 (Tag, Tornado), 4 vs. 4 (Tag, Tornado).

Customisable options for winning include Elimination, Iron Man, Perform Finishers to Win, K.O., First Blood, Pin & Submission etc.

Match types on top of this include Hell in a Cell, Ladder, Table, TLC, Elimination Chamber and so on.

I want to do a 4 vs. 4 Tornado Tag match which takes place in an Elimination Chamber or inside a TLC Hell in a Cell? I can do it.

- Animations should vary and every move should have several animations for the sake of variety. It's been over a decade, had they been doing this already, we'd already be here by now.
- Improved hit detection.
- Improve the presentation aspects. Make the crowd feel more alive. Make the announcers not look like PS1 dolls. More signs. Give arena's more interactivity and make them feel different. Wrestlemania in a massive stadium should be different from some other PPV in an arena.
- Match types need more interactivity. Most importantly for matches like HIAC, Cage, TLC, Elimination Chamber etc. And by this, I mean, if I spear someone into the side of a cage with a normal move, have them slam into the cage.

The base engine needs changing. Physics, animations all need an overhaul.

These games are still the most fun I have in local multiplayer, but so much more can be done. They really don't do anything. Even if they had been doing a small amount every year, by now they would've come very far. The only noticeable thing I felt when I stopped playing these for about 6 years and came back to WWE 13 was the pin system. Which I admit was a really good addition because it makes it more skill based rather than mashing buttons. And the submission system by extension, but that needs to be worked on and improved much more unlike the pinning mechanism.

Pretty much everyone is a HBK fan. Except DVDVR board in 2005.

I really liked last year's wrestlemania mode even though I Got frustrated sometimes... reliving those past moments was great IMO. If they had more rivalries in this game I'd be a lot more interested... Bret vs. Luger vs. Yokozuna. Bret vs. Owen (can they do Owen in a game?) Stone Cold vs. The Rock, etc. Michaels vs. Razor Ramone.

They're cheesy setups, but ... I like them for what they were.

Oh fuck, a Lex vs Yoko rivalry would be the worst.
