WWE 2K15 First Footage and Gameplay changes

The list I saw had AJ Lee 1 point below the Bellas, which was funny.

You're right!

The roster is still arbitrarily split into Raw and Smackdown. Their methodology last year for that was "use 2011 brand lottery as far as possible, put new guys on Raw, split Divas randomly across both brands" and 2k15 looks like it does that too.

Edit: Average stats seem way lower than in 2k14. Daniel Bryan and Randy Orton, who main evented basically all of autumn 2013, were both average 92s in 2k14. Orton seems to have been reduced to 90. The Rock is now 91, and was 95 in 2k14. 95 seems to still be the upper limit as Shawn Michaels has that average (as in '13 and 2k14).

The video I'm looking at doesn't scroll through them, but I'd guess Triple H, Shawn Michaels and Cena are 95, and then 2011 CM Punk probably is 93 or 94.

Edit 2: Sheamus is 93 and Stone Cold is 90.

We're all having fun here, but let's not get carried away now.

OK, a fair point. But the resemblance between the two is uncanny, isn't it?

Sorry to ask, guys. But why is this thread in meltdown mode right now? Trying to read up on it but it appears to be because of no custom soundtracks, which I simply refuse to believe to be a reason for such a meltdown.

No custom soundtracks, no create a story, no create a finisher, shitty roster padded with 2 versions of a lot of guys including Alberto Del Rio and 2 Kanes, but they're both masked Kanes... And this is all the last-gen version, which gameplay wise, is just a re-skin yet they seem to be using even worse models than 2k14.

We all expected it to be shit. We weren't ready for entire modes to be ripped out.

Thanks. None of this bothers me + I'm holding off for the current gen version anyway. Still a happy camper. Let's see how it plays though.

They haven't added anything to the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions, but because they're really afraid of people just buying the 360 and PS3 version for features they haven't been able to put into the next-gen versions yet, they removed a bunch of creation tools from the 360 and PS3 versions.

Wrestlers enter the ring to music. Because games take a while to make, the developer here, Yuke's, usually just takes a snapshot of the roster as it is after WrestleMania, in early April, and tries to make a game around that roster. Sometimes a character who debuted a month after that will make it into the game. Sometimes a character who changed something in January won't have that change make it into the game. A thing that often changes is ring music. Cesaro has had his music changed five or six times since WrestleMania. In the game is his music from June, which is almost his music right now (a slight remix). Before they removed the ability to use custom music for entrances, you could have gotten his new theme as a music file onto your console (which is way easier on PS3 than on Xbox 360, but still is possible on both) and had the game play that instead.

Worse example: The Shield, which was the faction of Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns, broke up in early June. They now all have new individual ring music. In the game, they are still in the Shield and have their old music. They probably will in the PS4 and X1 versions too. This is now not possible to fix.

They've marketed the game on TV using a created wrestler instead of Dean Ambrose's actual in-game character because they would look really stupid if they revealed to the world that how he's now looked for three or four months isn't in the game.

If you're waiting to see how the current version looks, this thread will probably have a comparable meltdown when that version gets to people. Check in then to see if anything people are complaining about matters to you!

You know what, yeah, this may actually be the first game where Vince McMahon doesn't even appear. He at the very least had a 3D model in SvR, SvR 2006 and SvR 2007, and at least two of those games used him as a special guest referee at some point.

Edit: No, wait, Money in the Bank 2011 won't make any fucking sense without an in-engine cut scene where McMahon appears because that's how that match ends.

who walks out with a new ref if you act too heelish in the special ref match? johnny ace again?

Wow, no Story Designer? That's a huge blow for me. Why remove that if the last gen version is basically 2K14?

If the new gen game doesn't have the story creator, I am definitely not buying it.

Ofcourse it wont. Why else would they remove it from the last gen.

They will add it in 3 years from now and call it a "brand new" mode lol. Things like this is why I stopped playing wwe games 3 years ago.

I personally never cared about create a story mode, but if custom entrances, create a finisher is not in and if the CAW mode is half assed, I wont even waste my time reading a damn thing about the next WWE games for the next 3 years.

Which is a shame because I was looking forward to this one.

Curtis Axel's model is apparently terrible. Why? He's the plainest guy in the world. No long hair, short beard, no tattoos. He should be really easy to get to look right.

Looks like AJ Lee, Brie Bella and Nikki Bella have the same overall stats (83) as Titus O'Neil and Xavier Woods.

Edit: No, AJ is 82.
For what it's worth, I could have sworn WWE does the ratings for these types of things. And for who's in the game for that matter. Unless you basically tell them no, like Foley.

If I read this correctly, you're limited to just the entrances for the superstars on the main roster.
I thought I saw an image of songs in the game (AJ, Del Rio, Batista, Batista '03, etc.), and mixed in was the usual text of songs Yukes had added in years before. So if those are in, I can't imagine actual animations being cut (for example, they'd say "Olympic Hero" [Angle], such references to guys that were in older games and a few made-up ones by Yukes). It makes zero sense. I'm speaking on behalf of the PS4/XB1 versions. I don't care if they are or not in the 360/PS3 versions.

They got rid of entrance animations for anyone not on the main roster lol.

Apparently there is one generic entrance according to the guy on caws.ws. I kind of hope that he is wrong. That would be insane.

You know, while the gameplay hasn't been great, I always loved the amount of customization options the series offered. You could have a lot of fun with it just creating wrestlers. I would put a ton of TNA/NXT/NJP/ROH guys in there and give them there entrance music. It was fun.

They really, really made a huge mistake cutting the customization features out of the last gen version. I don't care if they are trying to retain some sort of parity with the current gen version, this looks terrible on them.

I think this is much less Yukes than 2k. Those tool sets are there and I see no reason why Yukes wouldn't put them in. I believe that was 2k's call.

I had a feeling when bazza referred to the next gen creation tool set as streamlined that we were in trouble. I just assumed they would at least leave last gen as is.

Comparably, year of year, I can't see how you can score this game above a 5 at this point. The creation tools were a huge part of the experience.

No idea on the entrance thing, that's just the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Can't even be for parity since I assume there's more than one entrance animation in current gen too.

Incidentally, the entrance with the phone which is supposed to still be in the game is one of the three entrance animations from 2k14 that didn't use to belong to a real person. It was that one, "Clumsy Superstar" and "Zombie Superstar".

Maybe someone looked at them and realised they were really helpful for people who wanted to make CAWs of the people whose entrances they used to be and they decided they don't want to stand for people making Shelton Benjamin or King Booker? If that's the reason, I don't think we're going to see pre-set movesets either. It's also one step away from removing all of the items in the creation suite that used to obviously be someone's clothes who wasn't in the game, like the William Regal robe.

It's a shame really. Yukes get a lot of things wrong, but the caw feature has always been good. Ridiculously in depth. Still have yet to play a game with a create a character feature that's as in depth as a friggin' wrasslin' game

I refuse to believe this entrance animation thing. I Just... yeah. Wow.

That is a huge selling point for the game. A lot of the youtube vids around e-feds and stuff show the entrances and the CAW community really gets into it.

Universe pretty much requires it since people create their own feds. I guess you might as well turn off entrances altogether this year.

Damn.

Apparently Universe mode is actually improved this year. lol.

saveus.gamereviewers

Seriously, I hope reviewers crap on this game. I mean, red Metacritic score here, guys. That's the only way things will maybe possibly hopefully improve.

I actually had a lot of fun with the last few games. That was with a good creation suite though.

Cutting out a lot of those features is the huge problem this year.

This sort of reminds me of the transition from Smackdown 2: Know Your Role to Smackdown: Just Brint It for PS2.

SD2 was actually a pretty damn good game. A great roster and a pretty good season mode included. Just Bring It stripped a lot of that away in the switch to PS2 and we got a fairly bare bones game. They bounced back in the next couple of years but Just Bring It really fucking sucked.

It will probably get an 8/10 minimum from IGN. They're so uneducated that they will not even notice that half of the stuff from last year are gone.

These were both made by syn sophia and used the AKI engine for combat, and I enjoyed the hell out of them

some examples
Man that AKI engine was the truth! I really wish someone would get them back in the wrestling game. When 2K got the rights to make WWE games, I was hoping they would dump Yukes and get Syn Sophia on board. But alas, it didn't happen. *sigh*

I noticed they kept the camera angle change for the Royal Rumble, so you can't see guys actually coming down the ramp. Sneaky way to cut down on animations.

Seriously can we just give them 2 years to redo a new game. When I say new game I mean, new engine, new developer, etc. Just give us new features and updated roster for 20 bucks to hold us over. This bullshit is unexfuckingceptable, I'll slap the fuck out of Yukes for even releasing this and WWE most importantly.

Edit: Knowing these money hungry idiots , they'll charge 10 bucks per new feature. They can go fuck themselves.

I really can't fathom why they'd cut out the ability to make detailed CAWs. It's been one of the bigger selling points of the games forever. This would be possibly the worst business decision they could ever make.

I think you can still make detailed caws for the most part. It's just the entrance shit that has been fucked up.

I'm not excusing it but that's what it is.

Also, yesterday they were saying there was no WCW logo in the game...

Also, I'm actually kind of curious about the story stuff in rivalries:

Lana... looks good!?

2k14 still exists. I'm pretty sure they'll be sticking to that, unless they get a little stupid.

Yeah.

If they shutdown the online portion he won't be able to grab anyone new from the net though. He will be forced to create his own.

Bazza tried next gen 2k15 and sounded quite pleased with the creation suite. He said it was more streamlined but never raised any concerns about its usefulness.

It all depends on what they showed him and what he assumed to be in there though.
