WWE 2K15 First Footage and Gameplay changes

All these impressions just made me glad I held off for the few weeks until the next gen versions. I'm sure most of these complaints will not be an issue with those versions.

Honestly, I'd hold off a couple more days from that too. Less than 3 weeks and still no official gameplay footage really isn't inspiring. I could be wrong, but I'd steer clear of pre-ordering and if it does turn out great, Sting will be there in January.

I'll let you know how it is day 1 anyway...

:(

All the same complaints will be valid. It will just have prettier graphics. We know they are using the same engine based on the gamescom footage.

The engine and animations have been updated though, and that's based on the gamescom footage.

We've seen wrestlers pulling themselves up by using the ropes. We've seen a fatigued wrestler crawl across the mat to get a pin on a opponent. From people who have played the game it definitely seems that match flow has changed and fatigue plays a factor in what moves you can do at certain points in the match. There is the new chain grapple system that has me a bit nervous since the match starts off with a mini game.

A lot of it sounds good though. The weight detection system has been apparently adjusted as well.

But, we've seen a lot of the old crap in there as well.

The big problem is, they aren't showing us anything official. I can understand people are hesitant to get excited about the next gen version.

Yeah, what I played at EGX (presumably the same build) didn't inspire confidence.

Did you post your impressions? I'm curious about the flow of the match people have been talking about. Do wrestlers get notably more fatigued and show it in their move sets as the match progresses?

I didn't, but I could answer anything here I guess. I didn't notice any of that to be honest, a lot of repeated moves, and I didn't see any animation change. The wrestlers didn't seem to change condition beyond how they currently do either.

The main thing for me was the slowdown on camera changes for big moves. How they could show the game when it was in that state is beyond me.

Personally I think the crawling and getting up by the ropes are just animations that really have no bearing on gameplay. Also they always say the crap about wrestlers having weight classes and not being able to do stuff like body slam Big Show with Rey mysterious and then the game comes out and nothing has changed.

Yeah, I swear that wasn't at Gamescom and then I saw footage from an event this past weekend and the slowdown was notable and terrible.

If the game is like that they NEED to delay it or the clusterfuck is only going to get worse.

The weight restrictions aren't perfect, but it's gotten better, I guess. You don't see cruiserweights and light heavyweights doing military presses or big slams to giants. They said something about classes for next-gen, but we haven't seen anything with that quite yet. Perhaps it's AI related so Big Shoe will never go to the top rope, but they never did anyway. That was a problem with AI, so even guys who did do springboards and top rope moves didn't do such things. We should see guys like Mysterio, Sin Cara, and Rhodes doing more of those spots in matches. Big Shoe, Khali, and Henry shouldn't be able to go to the top rope at all, unless it's a corner move like a superplex.

I think the weight class stuff was just a rumour before they revealed anything. I've seen no trace of it in what we've seen of the PS4/XB1 versions.

Some more things I picked out from the VGCW stream: the Luke Harper/Erick Rowan tag team have their full entrance with the child singing "he's got the whole world in his hands", which I personally find terrible. There are only three multi-title entrances (Rock, Orton, Austin), and three three-person tag entrances (full Wyatt family, full Shield, and an Evolution entrance that's called "Bring it!" for some reason). Bray Wyatt's entrance can't be picked from the list, so maybe there's some weird hardcoded thing there to have him always entering with Harper and Rowan. Sami Zayn's entrance animation is from before he got his current ska song (which is in the game).

2K doesn't reveal much about any of its games until release lol

They should stop saying there is going to be new s then.

I can see the practice of limited news for narrative based games before release but on sports titles it just seems ridiculous. You can't spoil anything.

.

It was definitely something brought up during the initial play through impressions by the press.

Bray does enter with Harper and Rowan constantly, so it must just load up the trio animation... Then only Rowan is left at ringside.

VGCW Bazza did say something about Bray having two managers in the PS4/XB1 version in that video he had to take down. Maybe he was talking about the entrance, though.

Ah cool. There's no reason why there can't be 2 managers current-gen. I mean, we're not even sure how many people are going to be allowed in the ring at once right now. But the last-gen versions wouldn't allow it since the other team could have 2 managers, they'd need to kill the ref (not literally).

Did anyone watch Bazza's stream from yesterday? I missed it but judging by the title he was pretty negative on the PS3/Xbox 360 version yet he apparently said some great things about the next gen version in that vid that he removed.

I'm curious if he hinted at any differences in his stream yesterday. Maybe he has it archived.

I think there's at least one match in 2k14's WrestleMania mode where someone has two managers, but I can't remember which match that would be.

I watched all of Bryn's PS3 2k15 stream yesterday. I don't think Bazza streamed anything about 2k15, but there was a normal episode of VGCW yesterday.

Yeah, they know the conditions there though and that the other guy won't have 2 managers. I meant just in general exhibition mode.

2K Games hinting on Twitter that there is going to be a full Edit-A-Superstar feature. Probably explains the leaked Dean Ambrose footage from a few weeks ago.

Do you have a link to the twitter post?

A superstar editor is something we haven't had for years. Maybe since Raw 2?

Now that the ps3/360 version is out of the way I'm hoping 2K opens the flood gates and show us everything about the game now. No point in hiding unless they have something to hide lol. There should be another episode of "What a Maneuver" on youtube in the next couple of days, can't wait!

Still only 6 people in the ring for current gen, just confirmed on Twiter.

*sigh*

Not shocked.

More powerful systems but also higher fidelity graphics.

Marcus on the download/upload limit:

Clarity on Community Creations
We've seen some confusion as it relates to Xbox 360/PS3 Community Creations updates in WWE 2K15 and I wanted to pop in to give you guys some more clarity.

In general, these changes were made to push for better creations and rewarding you for doing so. Your ranking will rise based on how often your created content is downloaded. You will receive additional upload slots as your content is downloaded more frequently -- rewards for being an excellent content creator. You can download up to 10 creations every 24 hours.

You do not have to play online to increase your CC ranking.

All of this helps with the servers and should ultimately result in better content being uploaded/downloaded overall.

Also, current gen creation suite reveal is still scheduled for Friday.

Meh. Everybody wants more I guess, but it's ALWAYS a fucking mess. It's something you think you want then you get it, and it's completely unplayable. Especially with how wrestling handles targeting.

I enjoy it. It's the only reason I kept Royal Rumble on Dreamcast around. Would be an absolute riot for TLC matches online with friends.

Also, trying to defend the roster. "Some people want duplicates!" I can understand the argument for more legends and my argument for more current roster/NXT, but I can't see anyone wanting too many duplicates.... Isn't that what superstar heads is for?

Here's a link to the tweet.

Also, from Marcus on the 2K Forums: "Being up to date in terms of attire has been and is a losing battle because when you start the process of building the roster (modeling, rendering, animation, entrance modeling/animating, etc.), you can't keep up with programming. This isn't a sports game with 8 body types and heads put on those body types. We're discussing something hopefully this week in Creation Suite that will allow you to be up to date from an attire perspective. It's pretty sweet, actually."

yea and after the announcement that smash bros will have 8 players and how fun and chaotic it looks, It would have been a nice addition. oh well, not a deal breaker for me though and deep down, we all probably kind of expected this, come on its yukes afterall...

Oh snap, an edit mode? Suddenly I am quite intrigued. Add that to the customization options of 2K14 and that would be one hell of an amazing game.

Check out the Ambrose pic above. It's an edit mode.

Still trying to find Ambrose in that pic (is he in the crowd!?)

edit: also, if they have the foresight to add in his current attire for edit mode why wouldn't that be his default? Sounds like something they'll add in later, and considering they've released more information about the Season Pass, DLC included in it, and paid DLC that isn't part of it, so I can kinda guess how they would go about adding clothing options.
