WWE 2K16 - First Gameplay Details (IGN)

Both Jeff and Ryan Davis were in VGCW and they were asked if it was ok before hand.

I am trying to figure out if that is actually supposed to be him or some weird coincidence.

It's too close IMO. I think it's supposed to be him. I have to agree, they should have asked. Gertsmann is the type of guy who is absolutely going to call you out on it too.

I said elsewhere, they probably could have claimed coincidence if they hadn't have put "M.D." initials on the tracksuit

Holy shit at Create-an-Arena!!!! That looks incredible.

Still hyped. Haters can eat a bag of Fire Pro.
This is basically where I am with it.

I was glad they introduced sim style last year, but I thought they wen't too far in that direction and the roster and features were too weak so I skipped it. It's still not perfect (nor will it EVER be) but they've addressed enough of my gripes for me to get back in and have fun with it.

Ah, watching on my work computer. Couldn't see the initials. Yeah, you might be able to get away with that sort of thing if someone likes the franchise but Gertsmann is the type who wouldn't want that either way I imagine. Don't blame him.

I am not familiar with Dr. Tracksuit. What character is that?

It's the wrestling persona that Gertsmann came up with for the PAX Rumble and related PAX wrestling shenanigans. He's basically a insane, coked-up dealer in a tracksuit and Jeff is his "representative".

EDIT: Here's a promo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NHy5JzcVFTo

Sounds like it's time for Dr Tracksuit to get serious

I fell into the hole called hype, it probably wont be as good as older stuff, but fuck it. Last wrestling game i bought was WWE12, time for a new one.

The fun I find with this is playing WWE 12 and pointing out the physics bugs that are amazingly still in the game after 4 years.

Yep, Create-a-Arena looks like a blast. I just hope the creation tools move a little faster. CAW in 2K15 on Xbox One was a slow process I felt, waiting for individual things to load. I almost didn't want to do too much work because of loading times, lol

I want to get this game at launch, but I fear it might be cheaper come Black Friday.

Never even heard of this guy. He should get over himself.

Huge dump of info from Smack Talks They played the final version at an event yesterday. Create an Arena continues to sound great. No changes to Universe, which doesn't surprise me at all. Edit: He actually didn't have time to play it.

Someone will have to capture that preset arena stages. No Nitro but there is ECW and a couple of WCW PPVs that can be customized.

The RAW 2000 stage seems to be missing from that list. I am going to assume that means it may be missing from the final game.

Fucks sake. No changes to Universe AKA the only damn mode I'd actually play after a week means I'm not even going to bother with a $20 purchase. It's not been changed in goddamn YEARS. And no, letting you pick what type of story is not a change if they all result in fucking submission matches anyway.

Actually, I just listened to it and he says he didn't have time to play it. Someone who posted the description before me got that wrong. But I doubt there were any changes. It's the mode we've heard least about.

Edit: Apparently he says something in the comments about it not being changed but I haven't seen it.

"In regards to Universe mode, the reason I don't cover it in the video is that it appears to be the same and with only having 2-3 hours to try everything it was the one thing I didn't have time to play through. I hope you all understand "

Gameplay is apparently a little faster this year.

if universe mode is the same, I may as well stick with 2k15. Black Friday sales still won't make it enticing enough for me digitally.

I guess for me having that 100 CAW slots is a huge difference and being able to put them in custom arenas for my Universe makes Universe better.

I am disappointed though.

No offense but how can you tell if somethings changed if you haven't tried it? I mean im sure it hasn't, but cmon man.

Eh, after 4 years and this time they've not said a thing, I think it's safe to assume. Man, every time they got me when I finally got around to buying it. "Hey, they've tweaked it, so maybe it's good this ti-" Submission match. "Oh, they're claiming it's a whole new engine and they can't even do create a story because of it. They'll have to have at least tweak- OH GODAMMIT" Submission match, after which a cutscene that originated in create a story plays out.

I've just got to accept that much like the steel steps will always have hilarious physic freakouts, Universe will always suck.

I really like showcases they do each year, and that's why I always buy each annual version. From reliving the Attitude era in '13, then Wrestlemanias in '14, and the number of feuds in the 2K Showcase, I really dig this stuff. I love watching the old footage, and remembering what led up to the match, etc.

So, I am pretty excited for the Steve Austin 2K Showcase. Fighting Mikey Whipwreck is cool, and if I can unlock the Ringmaster, wow I am sold even more ;)

My comment was towards the guy who played the game and made the comment and said it was the same but didn't actually try it. Not you guys. Although I can't honestly blame your reactions because you guys are 100% correct(from what im told on universe mode)

Im hoping they aren't saying much because its a big surprise that it's actually been worked on and it's really going to be a game changer. In reality it'll probably be identical. Luckily ive never really touched the mode and always just done matches with friends or ppv/tv matches that happening currently or fantasy matches. So to me the mode will be a new experience. Im not even sure how it works or how you set it up Ect.

Sorry if I came off sounding like a deuche wasn't my intentions.

He didn't say that, though. He said the mode is still there but he didn't have time to try it. Not once does he say it's still the same. Where are people getting this from?

The fact they've not talked about it and the last 4 years of Universe mode with no significant changes.

I'm not saying it's one way or the other. I'm just taking exception with people stating the guy in the video says something he clearly didn't.

This is why.

Yeah, he doesn't say it in the video. It's mentioned in the comments of that first video.

There is another video I posted that mentions someone taking a quick look at the mode and not noticing anything new.

No one actually asked about it though and no one really dug into the Universe mode.

The fact that they haven't been talking about it makes me assume not much has changed either.

WWE doesn't like to remind people of wrestlers who died young due to drug abuse.
They've used Eddie in these games, though.

Create Suite sounds nice. Still curious what changes they've made to the online. Supposedly an 'overhaul' though they did that last year with the background matchmaking and pre-selected match type and wrestlers.

Posting this in here since it seems almost like the 2k16 OT.

Has it been said yet if this game requires internet for initial setup?

Reason why I ask is because 2k15 was very limited unless you had internet (unless I had a buggy copy). I rented it before I had net set up here and only had access to six wrestlers, Raw stage, and one on one normal matches. That was it.

Hoping I don't run in to the same issue as I currently don't have net due to funds -.-

I don't think they've they used him since Vickie left. I wonder if there's any correlation.

Too arcade-y for my tests, I still think No Mercy is the pinnacle of gameplay. That career mode in HCTP was godly though.

While I played the shit out of No Mercy, no other AKI game comes close to wcw/nwo Revenge for me. World Tour was my first exposure to the engine, but Revenge was next level for me.
