www.psp.com

I found it funny that instead of buying the domain from Page Southerland Page they (SCEE) opted for an introductionary page that points to both the proper Page Southerland Page site (psp.com) and theirs (yourpsp.com).

I've never seen anything like that from a "high class" company.

Maybe Page Southerland Page valued the name enough as to not want to sell? They don't exactly look like the kind of company that would need a quick buck from a domain name sell.

It's not unusual to see "compromises" like this in terms of naming. If you're using an acronym like PSP you're more likely to hit on something already owned by someone else too.

Yeah I know that. But still I've never seen a workaround like this. Oh well, if it doesn't look bizarre to you I consider myself owned :)

Edit: actually "workaround" is not the best term. It's indeed interesting how committed SCEE is to get those looking for the PSP official webpage to actually get there even if they don't own the domain.

This may have less to do with SCEE's commitment to PSP than Page Southerland Page noticing a recent spike in site traffic but no accompanying increase in business inquiries.

It may very well simply be a workaround on Page Southerland Page's part to offload that traffic to another server where it won't potentially affect the performance/availability of their main site content.

Hmm... I think SCEE is deeply involved in this since there is the PS logo there and the top of the browser windows reads "PSP™(PlayStation®Portable) - The Official SCEE Website". But yeah, you got a point about the reasoning on the Page Southerland Page's part.

I'm not saying SCEE isn't involved but the effort required to provide a tiny 32x32 logo and the legalese required to make a simple 3-line plain text web page business proper isn't exactly "deep". :P

Try going to Firefox.com.

I have, I just can not remember where. Both were big names iirc.

AMD used to be like that I believe. You went to amd.com but ended up at some other site. But the other site were nice enough to have a direct link to advanced micro devices on their front page. Since then AMD has acquired amd.com though
