Josh has been my long-time favorite but I think he's done after that performance. I loathe Astro but you have to admit the kid has talent, he always comes up with a way to make the song his own rather than just another overblown karaoke rendition.

Standout of the night was of course Melanie. She has to be emerging as a favorite to win. I'm actually considering downloading her version of Earth Song.

Even Simon couldn't help but dance in his chair a bit at the end! I wonder if the studio versions are the full songs. Her voice is too powerful to be confined to 2 minute truncations, songs like this need a slow build-up to the climax.
