Ok, I've always known X Japan to be a great band and have always appreciated their music. However, I never really did get the urge to explore the band more till recently.

So I borrowed the Last Live from my friend. Previously, I had only listend to Disc 2 of The Last Live. Disc 2 rocked, especially Kurenai and Orgasm. And then couple of days back, I listened to Disc 3.........

Talk about powerful (in an emotional way). The rendition of Endless Rain almost moved me to tears. It was just so powerful. You could feel the emotions and the crowd singing the chorus non-stop for 10+ minutes. Halfway through, the band chimes in again with the chorus then stops again. And the crowd continues to sing.

Man, this has got to be one of the best live CDs of all time. Everything feels so great. I can't imagine how sad/awesome it would be to attend my favourite band's last ever live concert. Imagine if you were attending YOUR favourite band's last live concert EVER......

It's probably my favorite Live ever (although Malice Mizers Merveilles L'Espace is a close). The Last Live wins out because of all the moetion that went into it. I've talked to people that don't even like X that liked the concert.

BTW if you haven't seen it track down X Japans live performance of Art of Life. They only performed the whole thing live 1 time (they released it on DVD). It's a 34 minute song as a whole so there's a good reason why it'd be a 1 time only thing.

The Art of Life performance is awesome. It doesn't stop once they get going. 34minute straight.

And yah it was Hide that died/commited suicide. No one really knows for sure.

Last Live is pretty incredible, but I've always been a huge fan of their first live album, On the Verge of Destruction. It's their first show at the Tokyo Dome and it really shows, with the band having the time of their lives and the audience rioting the entire time. And, yes, they do their inimitable live rendition of "Endless Song"; watching it on video is hysterical, as near the end about half the crowd has just given up and is waiting for the damn thing to be over.

I forget which of the Visual Shock LDs had this, but for that first Tokyo Dome show there was a post-concert montage set to "Say Anything" which showed the band coming out for their bows and just going insane. They were running around and hugging each other, then walking out with tons of mercahndising to throw into the audience. T-shirts can only be thrown so far, so what do they do? Break out X-Japan frisbees to throw to the folks in the nosebleed section. Cue crowds of fans diving over the edge of the balcony railing attempting to catch those frisbees, the rest of the fans holding onto them to keep the lucky catcher from falling over the side. It was freakin' awesome.

And, yes, Art of Life is truth.

I have the Art of Life live dvd. Pretty awesome, and it took some hunting to find it in Akihabara. The only readily available one was the $100 gold version or whatever. For X fans out there, highly recommended. I like it even more than the recorded version of the song.

I haven't seen The Last Live, but I will pick it up one day. I heard though, that there's some complaints about the dvd focusing way too much on Yoshiki. I don't mind a whole lot, because I think he's totally the man behind X Japan. But it may become a little distracting knowing there are 5 members and only 1 is being shown. Any truth to this?
